Our champion @franklinfurnace celebrated 50 years of performance experimentation & artist support this year! 🥳 At the end of the jubilee celebration, I knelt at @marthawilsonartist feet and thanked her for being one of the architects that built the vibrant, wild glitter gutter I gratefully live inside of and lend to today ✨ It’s a huge honor to have Gender/Power, my collaboration with the brilliant @mayaciarrocchi included in the exhibition “Standing Slightly Outside: Franklin Furnace 1976-2026”! The exhibition included so many titans of the avant-garde that I pattern my life after 🤩 It’s surreal to see my collaborative work among them. The photograph documents our 2016 Fund supported performance of Gender/Power Composition III at Smack Mellon made in collaboration with @sara.jimenez.art @massima.bell @pamela_sneed @theirishhorse with choreography by @sandrajparker In addition to all the good Franklin Furnace does to stake claim on the outskirts, they also throw a damn good party 🎉 What a charmed life it is for me to be among my beloveds!

Yesterday, on TDOR 🏳️‍⚧️, I got the chance to reflect & write from my perspective, on my motivations for joining @FallOfFreedom for @hyperallergic . It gave me the opportunity to reflect on my broader motivations for living inside a vast, vibrant, queer, creative community who shows up for one another and so many others in forming coalitions and communities of affinity in resistance to systems of control. Tonight, “Capital T” makes its public debut in “An Incomplete Haunting” curated by Rachel Raphaela Gugelberger at @601Artspace , 88 Eldridge Street, NYC from 6-8pm. The show runs from Nov 22, 2025 - Feb 22, 2026. I invite you to join me in honoring these witness materials, salvaged wooden joists from Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center removed during its renovation. “When the government attempted to erase transgender contributions to American history, my impulse was to rebuild our presence from discarded materials. Under current duress, it is difficult to stay hopeful, yet there is an enormous opportunity in building new futures together. That is the work ahead: taking what we have and constructing something stronger, clearer, and insistent. Because art matters, and courage is contagious.” Link in bio to the full text 🔗 . . . #KrisGrey #FallOfFreedom #Artists #Activism #LGBTQ #trans #transresiliance

So excited! Please join us Saturday, February 7, 4:30 - 6:00 PM for The Past is Not Past at 601Artspace. Organized as part of the exhibition An Incomplete Haunting, exhibiting artists Yevgeniy Fiks, Kris Grey, Miguel Luciano, and Angel Nevarez and Valerie Tevere, will share deeper insights into their respective practices and works on view through presentations of archival materials, readings, poetry, and glimpses into behind-the-scenes processes. On view through February 22, An Incomplete Haunting gathers research-driven and place-based works across photography, video, sculpture, installation, sound, reenactment documentation, and ephemera. Together, these projects demonstrate how art can confront and illuminate the past, making visible stories that official narratives have long obscured. In an era of historical denialism, censorship, book bans, and the criminalization of dissent, the exhibition foregrounds narrative craft as a tool for preserving polyvocal memory and resisting institutional erasure. Artists: Elvira Clayton, Nona Faustine, Yevgeniy Fiks, Nicholas Galanin, Chitra Ganesh + Mariam Ghani, Ken Gonzales-Day, Kris Grey, Alicia Grullon, Miguel Luciano, Angel Nevarez & Valerie Tevere, Andrea Ray, Dread Scott, Kenneth Tam, Mark Tribe. #thepastisnotpast #anincompletehaunting #601artspace #nyc

Time to act on your archival and carnal impulses! Your TRANSFERNO hosts @mini_husky @krisgreystudio & Adam Inferno, invite you to start the year off in collaboration with the NYC @transarchives (NYCTA) on January 31st from 9pm - 3am! Ride the sound waves of the impeccable @savattte down INTO THE VAULTS. NYC Trans Archives (NYCTA) is an independent, community-led organization dedicated to preserving transgender culture in the New York City region and beyond. Founded in 2023, they are building a collection of physical objects that document trans New Yorkers’ lives. And for that, they need you! At this month’s TRANSFERNO, we’re looking for anything that tells your story as a trans New Yorker. That stack of zines from 2010, your bestie’s homemade party flyer, a button from your first (or 40th) Pride March—we want it all. Every object carries a tangible legacy of agency, community and resilience that screenshots will never be able to capture. So dust off those diy breast forms and packers gathering dust in your closet, and bring them to the NYCTA table at the next Transferno! All donors will receive a small thank-you gift to wear while you party. For more information about NYCTA, visit transarchives.org or follow on Instagram/Facebook @transarchives . Ticket presale link in bio. As always, a small $20 dollar reduced list available for folks in need. Email [email protected] to ask if there’s room. ~ PERFORMER PROFILE Our next performer, Kris Grey, is a gender queer creature of transmasculine experience. Tonight they will perform as Bat Boy, looking for love in all the dark places. Feast your eyes on the glow up of the millennia. Once a pariah, misrepresented by the tabloid press during his formative years. Decades of study has led scientists to diagnose his condition as falling under the trans umbrella; trans-species that is. Doing his best to fit into society’s ridged human-centered beauty ideals after being mocked in the satire media of the 1990s, Bat Boy spent the past three decades seeking human-affirming medical care, all of which he has paid for out of pocket due to an exclusionary clause in the healthcare system barring insurance coverage for halfbreeds. Now he is palatable for the masses, single, and ready to mingle! Please welcome to the stage Bat Boy! UNPROFESSIONAL Variety Show: Vampires Resurrected 🩸🦇🌕⚰️ SUNDAY, December 14, 7:30 PM (Doors at 7 pm. Come early to get a good seat) Sliding scale cover $15 - $25* *All funds go to the performers TICKETS IN BIO PERFORMERS 🩸Jack Rabbit Slims @jackburlesque 🩸Kris Grey @krisgreystudio 🩸Özlem @liamlyonsshields 🩸 Special guests Li-Ming Hu @outraged994 and Laura Westengard @laurawestengard •Emceed by Maya Suess @MayaSuess •Accompaniment by Klovis Gaynor @klovisgaynor The Parkside Lounge 317 E. Houston St, NYC @the_parkside_lounge_nyc This show is sponsored by the Bad Review Fund. ❤️ ~ A close-up of his face, Bat Boy looks us straight in the eye, he has a warm and captivating gaze, his long ears extending above his bald head. We could perhaps, find the dark with him. Drawn in pink, yellow and purple hues agains a bright purple ground.
