GRAMMY voting begins tomorrow, 10.3 🐐 We designed TRANSA the album to be undeniably epic in scope so that any recognition for the project would lift the 100+ artists held together in this expanse of 46 tracks in 8 chapters — some of the most influential artists of our time. The music industry benefits unendingly from trans artists’ ideas and presence. It’s the season for giving flowers! We’re excited for more listeners to bond with TRANSA during the process of GRAMMY voting; we’re also hopeful to see some nominations that would carry the message of TRANSA — to love without limits, to experience liberation in the frequencies of transness which extend beyond identity. I recently hit 10 years of HRT, and to mark that occasion I asked @gabo__gamboa to take a picture of me, adorned with the jewelry I’ve been making in class the last months. It feels miraculous when I think about when I started HRT, in the throes of need and grasping for ways to make life feel possible, to come to the present, so grateful for my life. I made all these pieces by hand, fabrication + wax carving + casting, sterling silver and sewn in silk ribbon. The choker is modeled after thyroid cartilage (the “Adam’s apple”), the necklace after bits of rubble from barn ruins on the farm I was born on, and the earrings with a natural striated wax I made of beeswax and pine resin

Breathing in the scent of Mother Earth stimulates the release of the hormone oxytocin, the same chemical that promotes bonding between mother and child, between lovers. Perhaps the future will be built by heroic acts of humility rather than arrogant temples to growth.” -Isabelle Fremeaux and Jay Jordan, We Are ‘Nature’ Defending Itself This collage by Massima — a wedding invitation — references a photo of the oldest known third gender burial site and interprets telling symmetry in medieval old english glossaries: the word “bad” and “baeddel” (old english word for “hermaphrodite,” “effeminate,” etc.) have the same origin — and “waepenwifestre” is another old english word for “third gender.” Weapon woman, or woman with a weapon. Anna Atkins used cyanotypes to study British algae and the form’s origin is associated with the documentation of nature; later, it became known for blueprints in architecture.

A creator of TRANSA, LA-based artist @massima.bell is also a music producer, model, dancer, actor, tattooist, and trans activist.
