We tried to post this last week—remember that? Good times. Instagram gave us a slap on the wrist and a cold truth: Four-minute videos are out of vogue these days. So, here we are. Back with a shorter, social-media-specific cut of Love, the only song there’s ever been and the most technically ambitious OK Go music video to date. (Part 1 of 2.) Shot in a (nearly) subfreezing Hungarian train station, the operation relied on the meticulous choreography of 29 robots and the incredible expertise of over 60 brilliant people. (Among them, of course, were co-directors Damian Kulash, Aaron Duffy, and Miguel Espada.) But the thing we’re particularly proud of here isn’t technical achievement—it’s feeling. This song is among the most sincere we’ve ever written, so the challenge was to deliver all our trademark visual spectacle while *also* tugging a heartstring or two. We aimed for more than mirror trickery and Kodachrome; we were after something resonant, multiplex, ever-expansive. Something like love itself. So, this video is about connection—the universes it contains and unfurls—and as it turns out, we’d use math and several metric tons of machinery to get there, putting robots in service of a distinctly human phenomenon. We will say: they were a pleasure to work with. Never missed a cue. Never flubbed a take. We hope you enjoy. #OKGo #MusicVideoBTS #LoveMusicVideo #AndtheAdjacentPossible #Robots #Robotics #RobotsofInstagram #Mirrorball

Back when MTV was abandoning music videos for reality TV and the internet was a place none of us really understood, we made a habit of putting ourselves in front of a camera with a silly idea, throwing it to the dogs of the world wide web, and seeing where it took us. Before then, a homemade, rudimentary music video like this couldn’t have dreamed of winning a Grammy, and we aren’t positive, but we’re pretty sure that in today’s internet age, it wouldn’t have a chance either. But “Here It Goes Again” happened because at just the right time, with just the right amount of internet literacy, four guys in dandy suits with eight treadmills and a beginner-to-intermediate grasp on choreography (who were bestowed with the immense advantage of having help from the brilliant @bigbadtrish ) gave it a go, again and again and again and again. - - - - - #okgo #diymusicvideo #2000snostalgia #2000srock #hereitgoesagain #treadmilldance #youtuberewind #behindthescene #musicvideoshoot

223 takes. That’s how many times it took to get this NPR Tiny Desk appearance juuuuust right. And yes, there is still that tiny part of us that thinks with a 224th it might have been perfect.

Shots from tour that have stuck with us. A little bit of lens flare goes a long way over here. Anyway, more shows soon. Promise.

A scene from our recent tour stop at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. And in case you’re wondering whether our confetti budget is worth it, the answer is yes.

Pleasantville, we’ve only got one day to rock so let’s leave everything on the field. Parkway Field, that is. That’s right, we’re coming to New York to headline the 20th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival and tickets are on sale now (link in bio). This year has an incredible lineup of artists so you are going to want to grab those tickets now and get ready to jam your heart out with us on July 11.
