Philadelphia native King Britt, renowned producer, curator, and professor, has played a key role in elevating his city’s presence in global electronic music. At UC San Diego, he created the course Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music, a groundbreaking course that highlights the contributions of artists of color to electronic music. Featuring guests like Herbie Hancock and Flying Lotus, the course has evolved into an international festival with events in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Knoxville, Paris, and beyond, continuing the movement started by comrade Charlie Dark in the UK (‘99-‘05). In tribute to his hometown, Britt will curate BLACKTRONIKA: Philadelphia Now and Then, a weeklong celebration of the city’s impact on global dance music. The program will include seven nights of performances, workshops, and discussions, spotlighting Philadelphia’s vibrant communities of color and their influence on genres such as Disco, Acid Jazz, Neo-Soul, House, Hip Hop, and Experimental music. It honors both native artists and those who found creative inspiration in the city, acknowledging their enduring global impact. Join us as BLACKTRONIKA celebrates Philadelphia’s foundational role in shaping electronic and dance music history—while amplifying its continuing resonance in the sound of the future. Honored to be in The Philadelphia Music Book : The Sound of the City by legendary Larry Magid. It is a well researched and put together intro to the Philadelphia music scene and various eras. My hometown’s music history is not being preserved the way it should be, but it’s great to know this book exists. It’s also an honor to share the adjacent page with my brother and inspiration as a youth @djjazzyjeff . Whether it was Jeff and Will Smith playing my high school Central, the YMCA (when Charlie Mack was working at the ice cream shop on Chester Ave and told me I should go) to djing for my Sylk130 debut at TLA, he was and continues to be an inspiration. Let’s gooooo! Definitely seek this book out. PS - before you ask, my @blacktronika book is halfway done ….loading @ucsdmusic @delucadan

Big love @gillespeterson for the invite. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the UK, so get ready for a very special 3hr Dj set. You know how we do ❤️👑

Honored to have two songs in the new Khalil Joseph film BlkNws : Terms & Conditions. A cinematic masterpiece. (produced by Onye Anyanwu) @anyanwu The two @fhlostonparadigm songs that were chosen have important history. The Electric Fields was created at @worm_rotterdam when I was artist in resident in their amazing studio. I was trying to figure out the Arp 2500 mega synth and resulted in a very experimental ep. I put it out with no big push, just a project of love. A Moment of Self was created during the pandemic. It was exactly how I was feeling walking around campus, feeling post apocalyptic. To have these two particular songs in the film truly means the world because they were released with no pressure or expectations. A true example of songs taking their own journey once released. Always a pleasure hanging with one of my best friends @jocelynmichellebrown who always brings the good fortune. Great to see Khalil and run into @bpleasel ! So glad I made the trek to LA @richspiritstudio @blknws @tsmsayswhat
