The cover, featuring Shadow's friends Chief Xcel and Lyrics Born shopping for records in Sacramento, has become iconic in the world of instrumental Hip-Hop.
B+ stated: “We measured the focus really quickly because of the cat and we measured in feet when it’s set for metres. That’s why the foreground is out of focus. It was honestly a total mistake”

Pedro Beltran Ramaya has passed away. Another legendary part of the original @ondatropica_colombia crew, an icon of Colombian music, a one man genre and ultimately a gent. I got emotional today to see the crowds at his funeral so I went digging. One of the first to cover Fela Kuti, and a version of Rod Stewart’s Do you Think I’m Sexy tougher than Rods leather pants and his Jorge Ben ripping ass… brother Ramaya it was an absolute pleasure to share air with you. True folklorista! Many thanks to my Onda brothers @quanticmusic and @frentecumbiero for trusting me with this work! Epic times life changing! ☘️💚☘️
James Gadson is one of the greatest drummers of all time. Check the resume. He also sang well and produced some incredible records. His father played with Big Jay McNeely, he studied his instrument carefully and brought a physicality to his playing that’s really never been matched… from Charles Wright to Bill Withers from Herbie Hancock to DAngelo, from Paul McCartney to Beck, even John Lee Hooker…James brought that heavy kick and snare in ways that others couldn’t even imagine. He is the last of the Keepintime original drummers to pass. He brought a genuine curiosity to his seat and while he didn’t have the showmanship of Paul Humphrey his authority on the kit was something to behold. James and Paul’s generosity towards us and the DJs was basically what let Keepintime happen… he always thanked me but it was really our way of thanking them! To see his face at VaiVai in São Paulo during rehearsal in Brasilintime chatting to the Bahianas and feeling the power of the drums is truly one of my favorite moments… thank you James we will miss you! ☘️💚☘️

i wrote “hollyweird,” on scraps of found paper, frantically jotting down observations and sentiments of the Los Angeles fires in 2025 and its aftermath. The song is an Afropunkesque ode to frustrations around our current culture of social isolation and performative solidarity. I wanted to speak to the emptiness of “hollyweird” not as a place but as a way of being where insincerity is normalized. Where social interactions become void of authenticity and we lose sight of community and connection. Thank you to the collective who all contributed to this track and video. Each of you inspire me. In memory of Mtulazaji P.E.A.C.E Davis @mtulazajidavis of Freestyle Fellowship.

Gulosa (pronounced Goo- low- zah) is a portuguese word for someone who delights in pleasure! That is what this night is all about! Pleasing your senses! Zizou is a magic spot under the stars in Lincoln Heights with a mouth watering French Moroccan menu. The space is designed as a Moroccan garden patio with a heavy sound system under a covered dance floor. We will be spinning vinyl from dinner to dance from all the tropical places with Brazilian, Latin and African wax.
Your ears are in for a treat. Brian Cross, AKA B+ @bpleasel , has amazing crates, rare bangers and gems from across the globe. He is known for his legendary photography of hip hop icons from the 90’s as well as making a brilliant documentary called Brasilintime about the connections between Brazilian music and hip hop. Imagine the records he will play for us!
