Turtle season has started and we're out patrolling in the early mornings. It's still a bit early to see anything, but we're ready for the turtles to start arriving! It's also still in the peak season for Portuguese man o' war, so if you're out on the beach, watch where you step. #seaturtle #citizenscience #turtleseason #floridastateparks

There’s nothing quite like looking up and catching a massive squadron of pelicans gliding by the lighthouse in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in perfect formation. 🤍 They move as one, wings outstretched, riding the ocean breeze. Effortless, synchronized, and mesmerizing, it’s one of those moments that makes you stop, breathe, and feel completely connected to the magic of the park in our backyard. Nature always finds a way to surprise you. Keep your eyes on the horizon. You never know when the next squadron will soar by. 📷: @kb.poetry.share [Debbie Wanninkhof] #WildlifeWednesday #ElFarito #Pelicans #BillBaggsStatePark #timelinecleanse

Rangers, staff, and volunteers from Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park were honored to attend today’s District 5 Volunteer Appreciation Event at Curry Hammock State Park! 🌿👏 Our park was proudly represented by so many dedicated volunteers, the Friends of Cape Florida, and the Key Biscayne Citizen Scientist Project — one of this year’s well-deserved award winners! 🏆 The Key Biscayne Citizen Scientist Project, led by Rumya Sundaram, supports the park in countless ways, including research and education, presentations and lectures, community outreach, roving interpretation, and coordinating multiple mangrove cleanups. Their passion and commitment help us protect and share this special place with our community. We are so grateful for this partnership and look forward to many more years of collaboration! 💚🌊 #citizenscience #citizenscientist #FriendsOfCapeFlorida #billbaggsstatepark #VolunteerAppreciation

On Saturday, January 17, we returned to the Marine Stadium Basin to honor the life and legacy of Luciano Mercenari—transforming remembrance into action, and gratitude into care for the waters he loved. Together, we showed that Luc’s spirit lives on in stewardship, community, and the simple act of showing up. 🎥: @badwerks
