We are thrilled to be pumping out beams made from post consumer plastic! For our newest piece, we combined 6+ pounds of plastic waste with a salvaged steel base to make this cute little patio chair.
New molds are being made, and with that, we will be producing more plastic lumber. So excited!!
As always, a HUGE thank you to our supporters, partners, and collaborators. Thanks for making April an amazing Earth Month!
Happy Earth Day!!! And a big thank you to everyone that joined us at @cleanthisbeachup Birthday & Earth Day cleanup!!!
Together we pulled 2,076 pounds of pollution from our local environment. If you want to get involved, we have another cleanup scheduled in Broward on May 2.
Join us! And remember, Earth Day Every Day!
We just finished up 150 keychains for @plasticfisherman !
Collaboration is one of the pillars of Free Plastic, and we are thrilled to be working with a new friend, Plastic Fisherman. These keychains are made from 1.4lbs of recycled ocean plastic sourced from Plastic Fisherman’s cleanups.
Want to learn more, get involved, and celebrate Earth Month? We have a Earth Day cleanup this Saturday with @cleanthisbeachup @ @sunofabeachcleanup , and @plasticfisherman has their Earth Day celebration this Sunday in Surfside.
Happy Earth Month friends!!

New collaborators bring new products! Our Rainbow Eucalyptus inspired bench is our first step towards working with plastic lumber — sheets and beams made from unrecyclable plastic harvested from South Florida communities.
This isn’t a new invention, nor is it new to South Florida, but it is a dream project finally come to life. Since 2019, we have dreamt of working with plastic lumber and getting to explore all of its potential. We are so excited to keep pushing to see what plastic pollution can become.
Thank you to our friend @plasticfisherman for this and all future collabs & projects!
Our favorite cups are back in stock! Grab them at any of our events in April while we celebrate Earth Month & National Poetry Month with @omiamifestival !
As always, thank you to @pirani_life for being one of our 1% for the Planet supporters and for making an amazing product that has helped to end single-use plastic! 💙🩵💚
What does 97,000 bottle caps look like? This year students from @doralnjhs collected these caps and donated them to us to recycle.
Plastic bottle caps are often considered to be unrecyclable, however most plastic bottle caps are made from polypropylene (plastic number 5), which is an amazing material to recycle and work with.
At Free Plastic, we are focused on developing new products and new techniques to recycle the unrecyclable — plastic waste and plastic pollution that cannot be recycled in our local recycling programs.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be recycling this 200+ pounds of polypropylene into keychains, earrings, poetry, tables, benches, artwork, tiles, coasters, and more.
If you could recycle these yourselves, what would you make? What products would you dream up?
Join us from free yoga at 9:30am following by a beach cleanup at 10:00-12:00. Register now. Link in bio ☀️💚🧘♀️
