SURFILMUSIC. It’s a documentary (which hits theaters starting June 5). It’s a double LP soundtrack (which is in stores everywhere starting today) and it’s a tour (which kicks off next month in North America, and will continue on to Australia and New Zealand and beyond).
SURFILMUSIC - The Documentary: The film traces how Jack’s early years making surf films with close friends became a foundation for a much broader creative life, capturing moments in and out of the water that later surfaced in his songwriting.
SURFILMUSIC Soundtrack & 4-Tracks: The two LP set features the film’s original score by Jack and @hermanosgutierrez alongside remastered selections from Jack’s early 4-track recordings, plus a deeper dive into the archival music from Jack’s personal tapes.
SURFILMUSIC - The Tour: these will be traditional Jack shows, not film screenings, with amazing support from @hermanosgutierrez , @lakestreetdive , @phillyglove , @benharper and @johnbutler (check your local listings)

SURFILMUSIC, the film, documents Jack’s progression from a surfer to filmmaker to musician. It looks back to his earliest days and the friendships that helped shape his path. The film will have two special hometown premieres in Hawaiʻi on May 14th & 15th and will be in theaters this June, movie ticket and theater info is coming soon. 🍿 Soundtrack out May 15th.

The SURFILMUSIC Soundtrack and 4-tracks release is out on May 15th and features new score from Jack Johnson and @hermanosgutierrez and archival 4-track recordings from the era documented in the film.
