Congratulations to all who participated in the 2026 Design and Architecture Senior High Architecture + Industrial Design Competition!🌟 This year’s project, The Journey, challenged students to rethink the Rickenbacker Causeway as a 2.5-mile sustainable linear park connecting Miami to Virginia Key, prioritizing public access, environmental responsibility, and community-centered design. Working across architecture and industrial design, student teams developed proposals addressing pedestrian infrastructure, public space, transportation systems, and ecological impact. The results were ambitious, thoughtful, and grounded in the realities of Miami’s environmental and cultural landscape. Congratulations to all participating students on reaching the final presentation. The DASH: Young Designer Scholarship was created by Rosa de la Cruz and continues in her memory through the leadership and support of Carlos de la Cruz, Sr., the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Craig Robins and Jackie Soffer, the Milstein and Hankin Family Foundation, and the Horne Family Foundation, along with many other dedicated community leaders.
