Sinhala and Tamil New Year was a few days ago! The new year celebrates the sun’s transition from Pisces to Aries and is a time to reflect, acknowledge, connect, grow and move forward 🦚 I was lucky to be in Sri Lanka last month for a short couple weeks and it felt so grounding to be home after so long. The smells, sound, light all felt like a warm hug. I love being Sri Lankan 🌞 Some of my film snaps from the trip >>>

We are devastated that our dear friend @pariah_uk can’t make it down under this time - thinking of him, and he’ll be sorely missed, but we promise to reschedule with him as soon as the time is right ❤️ The good news is, the most iconic duo to arguably ever come out of aus, bush techno pioneers @sleepd93 are joining us for their first ever performance at an Animalia party! with a brand new live set. @kiasvs & @wnsalu will now play an extended set too. Mexican Jamaican dub techno wizard @4ndym4rtin will still close out the night, in celebration of his groundbreaking new @animalialabel release - mastered by 1/2 of Sleep D (@coreykikos ). A full circle moment ♾️ Tickets are flying - early birds are gone & first release moving fast. Presales recommended to avoid queues Animalia’s only summer event and one of @kiasvs last performances in Australia for the season ❤️ Tix in bio

Our once-annual super-collab: Animalia x Temporal Cast, returns at the end of the month, for a very special celebration at our favourite home-base, Miscellania - with two dear friends from across the globe. Guadalajara based producer/ DJ, Andy Martin will be gracing Miscellania for his Australia debut, a timely premiere ahead of his imminent Animalia EP. The dub-techno wizard is known for mixing up sci-fi techno & Latin Caribbean Sounds with a futuristic edge. Think psychedelic broken rhythms, tribal sounds, and dub influences from his Mexican/ Jamaican heritage. His most recent album “Antiguos Astronautas” is a musical exploration between the sounds of techno and native american futurism and his upcoming Animalia release is a fascinating interpretation of the label’s identity via Mexican mythology. Joining Andy will be the prolific UK born, Amsterdam based, Pariah. A DJ known for both an insanely wide range & absolute precision, noted via his inescapably classic productions, “such as 2022’s Caterpillar”. Pariah’s music is a memorable swirl of ideas and influences that feels eternally in-progress, waiting for the right collaborators, contexts and crowds to cohere and inspire with rare impact. His label VOAM, co-run alongside Blawan, has become one of dance music’s most well-regarded labels. This epic international duo will be supported by Animalia & Temporal Cast’s respective bosses, Kia (b2b the master of groove & dub, Lolo), and Kasun; and local queen Monique Tya who’s knack for weaving between bass, techno, IDM and everything in between will tie the evening together in the perfect celebratory bow 🎀 Join us for this very rare & very special occasion - Sunday 29th March. 2pm-1am. Miscellania @4ndym4rtin @pariah_uk @kasun_ @kiasvs + @wnsalu @moniquetya   Animalia, Temporal Cast & Miscellania operate on the land of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their elders past and present, and acknowledge that the struggle against colonial violence continues. Sovereignty has never been ceded.   Free entry for all First Nations People always Art by @felix_sandvoss ❤️

Tonight! 7 pm Second release sold out and final release currently selling. Find tickets in the bio link :~) So excited to have all of these incredible artists perform for us at Cam’s Kiosk this evening. For me, the connecting thread between them all is that their music feels like being guided through the depths of an unknown forest by a trusted friend. Feelings of uncertainty and misunderstanding turn into intrigue and confidence; letting you turn inwards to find the trust in both yourself and from those around you. You will make it to the grassy field on the other side. 🌬️🍃 @perkopair @ssofayy @lucky_bloke @cpt_inswaino @cams_kiosk

!! music will bring us together !! We ran out of time to celebrate our tenth birthday, so come join us next week for our eleventh :~) A Friday evening of absorbing, imaginative downtempo and chill out, in the beautiful courtyard of Cam’s Kiosk, Abbotsford Convent. Following the lauded release of his debut album Ephemera Danish producer, Fergus Jones, returns to our side of the world for a live outdoor performance of the music which earned spots in album of the year lists, art magazine articles, and much loved music blogs all over the world. Shimmering yet precise. @perkopair Accompanying acts include: Sofay - the ever angelic digger of NTS and The Searchers Records fame @ssofayy Ike Zwanikken (live) - a producer whose music is incredibly thoughtful, poetic and aesthetic. Sometimes one half of Hysterical Love Project @lucky_bloke Marley Swain - gracefully deft sub-bass explorer, still fizzing from a crowd favourite set at un:send @cpt_inswaino Bring your picnic rug and give in to the music.

A friend asked me about the record console I made so thought I’d share it! I love the problem solving and learning that comes from building things and I wanted somewhere nice for my amp, speakers and DJ set up to go. I used old Victorian Ash floorboards taken from a building renovation, squared them up to be equal and flat, and joined them into panels. Then mitre jointed them into boxes + a table top. I did all this with a home made table saw set up (don’t try at home lol), saw horses, ratchet straps and clamps. The boxes sit in a powder-coated steel frame. I bought a hobby welder and taught myself to TIG weld to put it together. Later down the line I welded up some speaker stands which use the mechanism from an old standing desk so that I can move the speakers between home listening height and deejaying height. d(-.-)b

Finally, we are pleased to announce our very special guest for next Sunday’s event, the one and only… @objekttt !. One of the most defining DJs of our generation, Objekt’s mind-bending productions are akin to an otherworldly genre of their own. With his wild yet equally laser-focused abilities behind the decks, we are thrilled to host the radical artist’s Miscellania debut. Objekt and CCL will go head2head in a three hour b2b… a match made in heaven.
