There's spring skiing, and then there are itineraries that read like a particularly well-edited adventure novel. This one began, as all civilized descents should, at Altaâwhere the snow is both powder and personality testâand continued westward to Palisades Tahoe, where gravity feels less like a law and more like a suggestion politely ignored.
In between: a series of lodgings so thoughtfully curated they verge on narrative devices. The Guest House Tahoeâequal parts alpine restraint and après-ski theater. Apex Club is a MUST. Snowpine Lodge, offering that rare blend of mountain austerity and upholstered indulgence. And the The new Inn at Sundance, in particular, reads like a footnote to Robert Redfordâs enduring argument that one can, in fact, have both art and very good linens.
Of course, no proper winter salon is complete without company. Enter the high powered women skiers of Alta -- like a Davos with better boots and sharper instincts.
Matt and Madie Wisler are the sort of travel companions equal parts wit, ballast, and impeccable culinary and cocktail chops. We quite simply love locking in core memories with this couple.

Spring skiing at ALTA Ski Area isnât a seasonâitâs a flex. Corn snow dialed like a Swiss watch, sun high enough to forgive your ambition, and a cast that knows exactly what theyâre doing. With Lexi Dowdall @kapowder â ALTA Director of Marketing and a true mountain storytellerâsetting the tempo, and a perfectly pitched day alongside the creative team at Ski Utah, Paula @harpo_utah the powerhouse proof-of-concept in motionâthe mountain felt less like a resort and more like a masterclass. Impressed by the big brains + vision at @skiutah appreciate yâall joining us for a lively lunch at Collins.

3 years and 8 months. The collective total amount of my life I have spent climbing and exploring these mountains over the last 12 summer seasons. Some argue I could have spent my time better. I say, I could have spent it worse. Rarely does our every decision have immediate impacts on our lives. Here, this is the norm. To me, these mountains represent the unpolished version of life society desperately tries to distract us from. The gritty, unmanicured version where the true beauty of it all lies. I have loved and I have lost in these mountains. Ended relationships to come here. And made new ones. Old versions of me have died and I have grown. Every year I go or leave, I yearn and I miss. I have yet to find a place and community I have felt so connected to during my time climbing. Yet for all the time I have spent here, I find I have more questions than answers. And maybe thatâs what keeps me coming back. Hard to leave the ones that ground me the most at home but psyched to be up north again.

Powder Mountain > Snowbasin > Alta âˇď¸ Met up with the always lovely @missmliss and pals to ski with a ranger, did some night skiing, and worked on getting better every run. Utah, youâre a beaut, per usual. â¤ď¸ Thanks to @skiutah for a great time exploring.
January calendar Spotlight: @kapowder and @mckasym floating/flying through Fredâs Trees at @altaskiarea // itâs beginning to look a lot more like this around these parts //
We finished the first half of the season on a strong noteâa foot of fresh snow followed by a holiday weekend filled with family, friends and fun in Romantic Alta. đ
It was another great week of skiingâa few days of chalk and groomers leading up to our first true powder days in over a month. Rope drops on the Backside, Devilâs Castle and East Baldy provided a little Presidentsâ Weekend pow and a blank canvas for skiers to practice their powder 8s. âžď¸âžď¸
Â
Despite the slowâbut sneaky goodâstart to our 88th season weâre holding out hope for a snowy second-half comeback. And that comeback could start as early as tonight, as forecasts are calling for a stout winter storm making its way to the Wasatch right now. đâď¸

Happy Supreme Bowl Sunday to all who celebrate.
Â
We are now one week from the start of the second half of the 2025â26 season. Consider this week your two-minute warningâletâs finish the first half strong.
Â
Itâs no secret that we got off to a slow start and find ourselves trailing New England and the Pacific Northwest. Weâve been seeing too much high pressure and some bad blocking. That being said, we have fully opened up our playbook, and while we havenât taken as many deep shots as we would like, our run game has been solid.
Â
Main Chute of Mount Baldy opened this week and Alta was open wall to wall for the first time this season. We celebrated Groundhog Day chasing gatesâand shadowsâon the Sunnyside Race Hill. The rest of the week was filled with sunshine, groomers, bumps and chalky turns.
Â
The forecast is calling for a snowy halftime show just in time for Presidentsâ Day Weekend. And models are suggesting a pattern change and a chance at a second-half comeback.
Â
Go team!
