From a point-and-shoot camera as a kid to becoming one of the most respected photographers in the Wasatch, Re Wikstrom has spent decades capturing the spirit of skiing in Utah. Her mission is simple. Put more powerful images of women athletes into the world.
Hear her story on the latest episode of Last Chair. Link in bio.
Re Wikstrom (@rewikstrom ) recognized the dearth of women in ski media early in her career. With a camera in hand, she set out to change that. Focused on photographing female skiers skiing—not posing—she captured many of the early all-women cover shots. Over two decades later, her work and mentorship has inspired the rising generation of female skiers and photographers. Read the full story in print in Issue 165, The 2026 Photo Annual.

January calendar Spotlight: @kapowder and @mckasym floating/flying through Fred’s Trees at @altaskiarea // it’s beginning to look a lot more like this around these parts //
March Calendar Spotlight: Karen M in the Canadian Rockies, skiing near a beautiful icefall during a week stay at the Alexandra Cabin (part of the @icefalllodge system). This was during a polar vortex camped out over Canada, where it was SO cold that it had to “warm up” to single digits before my “cold wax” actually worked. But it turns out the human body is pretty incredible and our entire group enjoyed full days of hiking and skiing at a very deliberate pace to minimize sweat and long stops and maximize moving ALL day in comfort.
April Calendar Spotlight: @crystalrlee , “getting pitted” as the cool surf kids say, floating in a wave of pow with Mt Baldy looming in the background at @altaskiarea
May Calendar Spotlight: Ski Guide @hollyskiwalker leads out a group of kickass women including @meganmichelson , @brigidmander , @jessoutside , and @madisonnnrose for a day tour from the Kees and Claire hut outside of @whistlerblackcomb , with @julie.cossette tail guiding // That hut is so cool! We had toured in, and spent a few days/nights exploring the terrain and testing out the @dpsskis Pagoda when it was brand new. (Side note- awesome ski! Loved the 112!) This happened to coincide with one of the big initial Covid outbreaks in Seattle. We had no connection to the news while we were at the hut, and everything changed when we skied back to the village and re-entered the real world.
Aug. Calendar Spotlight // Holly Walker crossing a narrow tree-for-a-bridge on the way to Keith’s Hut in the Coast Mountains, BC, Canada // @hollyskiwalker@falllineguides
