We are honored to share that Alta Ski Area and the Alta Environmental Center has received the National Ski Areas Association’s 2026 Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence. 🦅 Created in 1993, the NSAA Golden Eagle Awards celebrate ski areas working to raise the bar for sustainability and environmental stewardship across the industry. This recognition reflects decades of restoration, education, partnership and care for the mountain we all love. But more than anything, it reflects the people behind the work. Thank you to our past and present AEC crew members, fellow Alta employees, partner organizations and the entire Alta community. We’re proud to continue the legacy built by those before us and remain committed to a greener, more resilient Alta for generations to come. 🌱

As we wrap this season of SheJumps Into the Canyon, we’re reflecting on the full arc of the past few weeks, time spent on snow at @altaskiarea and in the climbing gym @saltlakebllouderingproject , each space offering new challenges, growth, and moments of connection. From first turns on skis to first routes on the wall, participants showed up with curiosity and courage. What started as new and sometimes uncertain quickly became familiar, built through encouragement, repetition, and a community that showed up for one another every step of the way. This program is about access, but it’s also about what happens after that access exists. Confidence builds. Friendships form. Skills grow across different environments, and participants begin to see themselves in these spaces in new ways. Week after week, it’s the small moments that stay with us, cheering each other on, trying again after a fall, sharing stories in between runs and climbs. Those moments are what carry forward long after the program ends. Thank you to our participants, volunteers, partners, and instructors who made this season possible. Your time, care, and commitment are what bring this program to life. We’re already looking forward to next year. – Dioné Rodriguez (@dioneecr ), SheJumps Into the Canyon Program Coordinator.

Putting the finishing touch on this unusual season, Monday’s Alta Ski Area Employee Appreciation Day was a full-on powder day. 🙌   Our daily ski breaks included more goggle tans than face shots this year. We are grateful to have ended the season skiing powder with our coworkers, visiting our favorite powder stashes and traverses.    We hope to see many of these same faces in November after many Alta employees spend the summer river guiding, commercial fishing, tree trimming, high rise window washing, wildland firefighting, landscaping, building and even beekeeping. Have a great summer! 📸: @photojohnphoto

A few moments from our 88th Closing Day—featuring some wild spring weather with a 15-inch powder party on the slopes of Alta. It looked and felt a little different, but the smiles, stoke and love of skiing shined brighter than ever. It was the perfect way to close out a less than stellar snowfall season, reminding all of us why we love these mountains and this wonderful community. We’ll see you in November. 📸: @photojohnphoto

That’s a wrap on the final week of our 88th season. 🥲   The final days of this weird winter had a little bit of everything—sunny slush laps, dust on crust, wind buff, hot pow and even a little boilerplate to keep you on your toes. All leading up to a 13-inch Closing Day powder party.   As we’ve done all season, we embraced everything Mother Nature threw our way and just kept skiing. And the skiing was surprisingly great.   Thank you to everyone who joined us for a day, a week or all 141 days of the Best Worst Season. Let’s do it again next season—but maybe with a little more snow. 📸: @photojohnphoto @chloe_jimenez @rockomenzyk @tyler_the_struss

Alta’s Best Worst Season will wrap up on Sunday, April 26th. Frankly speaking, closing weekend will look a little different from years past. Please review these helpful reminders about parking, logistics, staying safe and having fun on Closing Day. ⛑️ It hasn’t been our snowiest season, but we’re looking forward to one last powder day, riding our favorite chairlifts and skiing our favorite runs as we bid farewell to Alta’s 88th season. #Alta88th

We are all drawn to Alta because of the mountain and the snow—but it is our hard-working and passionate employees that make Alta Ski Area shine. 🙌   It’s no secret that in a historically low snow year, our employees have to hustle, grind and get more creative than ever before to keep the low tide working. This means that our Slopes & Surfaces teams had to endlessly steal and move snow around the mountain. This means that our Ski Patrol had to constantly open and close terrain. This means that our lifties had to tirelessly upkeep our ramps. And our Building Maintenance team had to shovel never-ending amounts of snow to keep building transitions looking good during this winter’s warm temps.     From the parking lot crew to our lifties shoveling top ramps, this post goes out to each and every Alta Ski Area employee who made the Best Worst Season a memorable one. We hope to have a bit more snow next season and return to Alta’s regularly scheduled programming of powder skiing.   Until then, let’s enjoy our final three days of Alta’s 88th season. 📸: @photojohnphoto @tyler_the_struss @rockomenzyk

We have officially wrapped up another incredible season of SheJumps Into the Canyon at @altaskiarea . Our final weekends together brought everything this program is about. One weekend gifted us fresh snow and cooler temps—an opportunity for participants to step beyond spring conditions and build confidence in new terrain. Nerves at the start of the day turned into real progress by the end, with some navigating intermediate runs and others building skills at the beginner lift—many for the very first time. Our last day of the season came with its own challenges. Shifting spring weather and lightning kept us off the lifts longer than expected, but what could have been a setback turned into something special. We played Uno, sang, laughed, and shared stories alongside our instructors, building friendships that will last far beyond these weekends. And when the lifts finally reopened, we got in our final turns of the year together. What continues to stand out about this program is the constant learning—not just for participants, but for volunteers and leaders as well. The people who show up, year after year (and for the first time) remind us how powerful a community can be when we show up where it matters. Thank you to everyone who made this season possible—our participants, volunteers, partners, and the incredible Alf Engen Ski School instructors. You are what makes this community so special. We can’t wait to do it all again next year. – Dioné Rodriguez (@dioneecr ), SheJumps Into the Canyon Program Coordinator
