Kamayan Fest won’t be happening this year.
We wish we had different news, and we want to be honest with you about why. Rising costs, lack of sponsorships, and shifting capacity that we cannot sustain in the long term, made it impossible to put this together in a way that actually honours what this festival is, and we are not willing to do it halfway.
For those who are new here, kamayan is the pre-colonial practice of eating with your bare hands, no utensils, no barriers, just you and the food and the people around you. Kamayan Fest was built around that spirit, bringing together artisan makers, local artists, live music, and food that is meant to be handheld, shared, and savoured without pretence. A celebration of Filipino culture that you could touch, taste, and feel, right here in Mount Pleasant, that belonged to everyone who needed it.
This festival started as the dream of 4 Filipinx women and grew into something beautiful through the support of this community over the past 3 years. We can’t emphasize enough how grateful we are for everyone who showed up, filled their hands, and made this thing real with us.
We built this because we wanted to create something that said: you are Filipino enough. That vision has not changed. We are pausing (not disappearing) and we are grateful for every single person who has been part of this.
If you want to help make the next one happen — as a sponsor, a partner, or simply someone who believes in what we are building — please reach out at

Salamat sa inyong pag-unawa. None of this exists without you. 🫶🏽
With love,
