UH HUH, THATS RIGHT!!!! 🥵 I couldn’t believe it when I got the phone call. My involvement with the DH family is forever in my heart as I had the opportunity to run the merch booth and curate a lounge space for it (which yes, i’m so doing again this year!!)
But to be invited in a different light where I can play the music I love most, to say I feel honored would be a massive understatement!!

that was the last thing you said to me before you went missing again a few months ago. I ignored your phone calls that came after because I knew you relapsed and I had to set boundaries again. which I obviously knew was a possibility. it’s all I knew since I was about 4 years old. except - this time felt different. month after month I had this deep pit in my stomach that something was wrong. the more I couldn’t get a hold of you or find you, the deeper that feeling sank. A week ago you were found overdosed. alone, outside, and near the home you grew up in.
I always anticipated this phone call. The one where it finally did you in. The illness you’ve been combatting more than half your life. The illness that I also understand a little too well. Your addiction had complete control of your life and at one point I remember you admitting that it was a life you weren’t strong enough to let go of and that’s why you couldn’t be the dad I needed. I tried many times to form a relationship with you in my early adulthood but I knew it wasn’t healthy for either of us as neither of us were sober. We went silent on each other for almost 10 years and both struggled in our own ways during that time.
Coincidentally, we both got out of treatment at the same time earlier this year not knowing either was going. I decided to open up to the idea of getting to know him while he was sober. I had no idea how long it could last. He did some really really really really bad things to my family and others. I’m not going to sugar coat it. So I was very hesitant. But I saw what he could be if he had stayed that way. That’s what I got out of it.
While I was white knuckling my sobriety, I asked my higher power to give me something that will help me stay sober. in a fucked up way, I guess this is the sign. I swore I’d break the cycle, and to that I’ll stick to. I couldn’t put my son through this. no child deserves to get a phone call that their parent is dead no matter how close they were or not. for the last 6 years I’ve been working behind the scenes for @relentlessbeats & the opportunities that I’ve been given to grow all my passions have been more than I could ask for! starting with the rangers working in harm reduction, to literally bringing the festivals you all love to life with the creative build team, AND clowning/go go dancing for @weirdandwonderfulofficial 🥹✨
