KABOOM! is 30!! This year marks 30 years of building playspaces that spark joy, build community, and create better futures for kids.
We will mark this special milestone not just by looking back on all we’ve accomplished together, but by inviting you to help shape what comes next.
As always, our focus is kids, and right now they need us more than ever.
Help us protect and create spaces for kids to experience all of the physical, mental, and social/emotional benefits that having a place to play provides.

MSEF is funding an MSE-themed KABOOM! playground at Friendship Chamberlain in SE DC this September. Yesterday we took our first step in making the new playspace a reality, participating in Design Day with staff, parents and students from the school - along with the @washmystics Angela Dugalić, the @washwizards Anthony Gill and the @capitals Matt Roy.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, the need to support children’s well-being is more urgent than ever.
In the U.S., nearly 1 in 5 children experience a mental, emotional, or behavioral health condition, many without access to supportive environments or interventions to protect them and provide a pathway to healing.
We know that when kids are able to play, they have stronger social skills, self-esteem, and have a greater ability to cope with adversity and toxic stress around them.
Your support can help bring joyful places to play to the kids and communities who need them most.

Happy to showcase another successful nature play project with @kaboom & @eatlearnplay , with this one taking place at Oakland Academy of Knowledge. None of it would be possible without their amazing teams and volunteers. Projects like these are a big part of why we do what we do.
These Bay Area trees supported their communities before they had to come down, and now continue to do so through projects like this by being repurposed into spaces built for the next generation to enjoy.
💛 Adult Design Day was a success — our scholars are getting a brand-new playspace thanks to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, KABOOM!, and incredible volunteers! Today, parents learned how to help turn their kids’ dream play spaces into reality while enjoying tasty refreshments. 🎉 Three winners also scored $25 gift cards!

According to the @hhsgov , children and adolescents who spend more than 3 hours a day on social media face double the risk of mental health problems, including experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
This is a stat that would not surprise @Isabel.sunderland , child online safety advocate, Policy Lead at Tech One, and a presenter at this year's KABOOM! all staff retreat. In addition to her insightful presentation on the state of our kids' online habits, she challenged our staff and all childhood advocates to continue creating safe offline spaces for kids. But not just any spaces, but rich environments that give them agency and a sense of belonging to compete for their attention that screen time can try to control.
What are you or your organization doing to create safe and engaging offline spaces for the kids in your communities? #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #KABOOM #PlayspaceEquity
