Half my life ago, I opened a letter inviting me to answer the call to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pittsburgh. It was signed by President Gordon Hinckley — who was known to say ‘get on your knees and pray, then get on your feet and go to work.’
I went. And I’m forever grateful for the spiritual growing I did in Pittsburgh. That has proved my foundation for life’s biggest decisions.
Yesterday, I toured this city a different way — next to @miltonkrotich and @willloevner in an incredible 26 mile race — 26 miles because on account of Will’s 29 second 200 with 350 to go, 26.0 miles really marked the end of the racing.
And… meet @willloevner — goat farmer, Pittsburgh hero (I was reminded all race!), and the sole possessor of mile pace speed work at the end of a marathon. Paul and I watched Will win Philly a couple years back — I got a different view this time 😅
But I loved the race. Milton pressed the pace mid-race and Will brought the best out of me at the end.
Love the city. Grateful to know such wonderful people.

What an incredible, Olympic themed primary activity! Sister Buchanan and team — you are heroes.
One thing really hit me spending a few mins with these LEADERS blessing these youth: Lift where you stand. This was an incredible activity built for fun and impact, and these volunteers are blessing our community’s children 🙏
And for all of us, keep the dreams! Celebrate the wins in the process.

Saturday long run — 18 miles, 3 mile pickup.
These late run pushes are great little squeezes to simulate race pace (or faster 😅) on tired legs. This is one thing I recommend adding to marathon training plans more than any other for runners chasing PBs.
