CHRONOS: Time of Sand
When Nicole approached me to shoot the desert scenes for Chronos—I was enthralled with the world she’d built in a 10 page script. I couldn’t turn down this opportunity; even though I knew the desert would create challenges.
Dealing with the elements as a 2nd AC—the water, rains, snow, cold, dust, heat—I knew sand would be difficult to control.
You lie down on a beach for 2 seconds—your covered. Picture using a camera, lenses & filters for 10-12 hour days; all while in the desert heat, with wind blowing—it’s madness!
This was a reminder that filmmaking is never a solo effort—it’s the team you surround yourself with.
Thank you
@ethan__johnson & Charlie beating the elements and managing the equipment so well.
Shoutout to
@haileylynneartistry for dealing with the elements even more so as the key hair/makeup. Your wizardry to make things work under the time constraints of filmmaking did not go unseen.
Thank you to
@brightsidecinema &
@nmv.dp for their support & trust in making this one happen for me. It won’t be soon forgotten ♥️
Lastly, thank you
@ndextras for being such a trusting collaborator. We ended up going to camera—on a road show—with no producer. Nicole picked up so many loose ends over the course of this week to make this happen—all while directing a story she continues to put so much effort into. You’re one of the most dedicated artists I’ve had the pleasure to work with; thank you for trusting me with your vision.
