We are so grateful to @screen.sask and @play_creative for recently collaborating with DP @pieterstathis to facilitate our advanced training workshop for Saskatchewan camera crews. We had a very full and fun day of testing the sensor attributes of Alexa MiniLF, RED Monstro and Sony Venice cameras in a controlled lighting setup during the morning. And then diving into our mobile lens cabinet to examine the colour, character, breathing and flare signatures of modern, vintage, spherical and anamorphic lenses from over a dozen manufacturers. We will soon be sharing this lens footage library online as a free community resource.
After lunch, we set up a couple of narrative scenes to practice creative storytelling armed with our new tools and preferences. And we wrapped it all up in the screening room with a comprehensive review of our footage — what a day !

We were honoured to recently host the CSC winner’s circle for best dramatic series cinematography in our newly installed screening theatre. We were joined by special guest Marc Laliberté to watch and discuss his episode of Shogun after the screening with CSC organizers Emma Djwa and Ron Stannett. It was a great turnout for CSC members in Western Canada, and a great opportunity for us to build community among our local DPs. Big thanks to Mikah Sharkey for the amazing BTS photos.

Zero Optik’s Canon-based 10mm made its debut four years ago as one of the widest rectilinear primes available for full-frame cinematography. With even larger sensors becoming increasingly accessible to filmmakers, we are happy to announce that our 10mm is now available for use with 65-format bodies!

Name Tags are ZERO’s new intelligent mounts which transmit our lenses’ static data - manufacturer, focal length & serial number (it’s name) to the camera to help automate VFX pipelines.
We’re happy to share that our Name Tags are compatible with @cookeoptics iData protocol and that ZERO has become a Cooke partner. Who would have thought we could have modern data on vintage lenses!!!
We had the first 8 new samples at the show at our booth and at the @reddigitalcinema booth. We’ll have more to share regarding these clever little Name Tags very soon :)
