We are so grateful to @screen.sask and @play_creative for recently collaborating with DP @pieterstathis to facilitate our advanced training workshop for Saskatchewan camera crews. We had a very full and fun day of testing the sensor attributes of Alexa MiniLF, RED Monstro and Sony Venice cameras in a controlled lighting setup during the morning. And then diving into our mobile lens cabinet to examine the colour, character, breathing and flare signatures of modern, vintage, spherical and anamorphic lenses from over a dozen manufacturers. We will soon be sharing this lens footage library online as a free community resource.
After lunch, we set up a couple of narrative scenes to practice creative storytelling armed with our new tools and preferences. And we wrapped it all up in the screening room with a comprehensive review of our footage — what a day !
A huge thank you to @play_creative organizers @maekelburger and @allanroeher — our @screen.sask supporters @rghardy and @drcrozier — our wonderful on-screen talent @carolynharris — and DIT extraordinaire @jasonrister for wrangling data and colour management.
We’re already looking forward to our followup !

Thank you to everyone who joined us on February 18 at The Cure in Regina for the ScreenSask Writers Room Showcase. A packed house enjoyed table readings of five exciting new web series and microdrama projects developed by Saskatchewan writers.
Over the past few months, six writers worked in our Writers Room program to prepare their projects for pitching to funders and partners. The Showcase gave audiences a first look — and helped creators refine their work through live performance.
Huge thanks to our writers, actors, mentors, and industry guests who made this program such a success. We can’t wait to see where these projects go next.

It was a busy weekend at ScreenSask. First, thank you to Shannon Farr and Insight Production's John Murray for hosting our two day development master class, "From Idea to Greenlight". They led 25 Saskatchewan producers and creators through every step of developing a scripted television series, and factual series. At the same time, leading Canadian writer Ken Craw (Heartland, Family Law) led the 6 participants in the ScreenSask Writers Room through the second of their 2 day in-person writing rooms, where they broke script and worked on their web series and vertical series mini bibles and scripts. Next step: they're working with top Canadian story editors to get their projects polished and ready to pitch. Topping it off, we welcomed all of our program participants, facilitators and key industry players to a high-energy networking reception where writers and producers got to meet, mingle, and pitch. Thanks to everyone who came out and took part!
