I'm really stoked to tell y'all about a new event we at @sourcherrymusic have been working hard to bring to the performing arts loving humans of #gvlsc. This week we are launching Other Folk (@otherfolkgvl ), a monthly variety show with handpicked talent and silent audiences. This event is a collab with (and draws inspiration from) @openfolkavl , for which I had the honor of being the official photographer at an event last month. Every so often, when I find myself with a free Tuesday evening, I’ll head up to Asheville for Open Folk. It’s an international songwriter series that requires the audience to be silent during performances. Each evening is curated and features artists from all over the world. I’m old friends with the founder of this chapter and we have a mutual respect and admiration for each other's artwork. On the occasion that I am able to make it to Open Folk I always bring my camera along. Open Folk has a house photographer who captures the evening's emotions in a really beautiful way. (Go check out @annacaterinaphoto 's fantastic shots on @openfolkavl !) This gives me the opportunity to shoot with a more creative focus. I get to be a fan with a camera as opposed to the event's photographer. If you follow my work, you already know how much I enjoy making sparkles and bending light shooting through @allweperceive ’s glass, along with my other little see-thru toys.
