âWindowsillâ is a song I wrote back in 2019 during COVID, a time when we were all stuck in our homes, looking out at the world from our windows. That feeling of being trapped and longing for connection really inspired this song.
Big shot out to
@justinitup for playing all the instruments on the track and for do the recording and production. He also has a sick solo on it. Here are the lyrics.
Hold your head up high, child
There's nothing better than being, alive
If not for me, then do it for the world, outside
Jezebel, its that you outside tapping on my windowsill?
Thereâs nobody inside, just me and my kinfolk, theyâre checking in on the news
I think Iâve got some downtime, to spend sitting on my bed, so hop on in but take of your shoes
Seems like youâre looking, for a break away, from social isolation
She asked me, âAre you prepared for the end of times?â I said, âyeah, why not?
I bought a ton of rice and beans, and a ton of pot, and I think thatâs enough
Iâve got one idea and one plan, and thatâs just the best that I got
AndI plan on sticking it out with no doubts
Because I want to remain on top of the clouds and I wonât to come down
Hold your headâŚ
When I first wrote it, I posted a few clips on Instagram, and I got so much love for it. My good friend Justin even asked if Iâd ever thought about recording it. I said yes, and we didâbut I never released it. At the time, I was really self-critical about sharing recorded material. I was comfortable posting live performances or practice sessions, but releasing a fully recorded track felt different, more permanent, and I just wasnât confident enough back then.
Now, Iâm in a place where I feel much more secure about sharing my music with the world. âWindowsillâ is a track that means a lot to me, and Iâm excited to re-release it wasn the gram. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
