Grandma Meg would’ve loved to be out in the Pacific Northwest with us. But knowing her, I believe she’d be just as happy to know that the extended family came here together to celebrate her 101 year tenure on this planet, and will continue to convene in her memory from now on. It is so awe-inspiring witnessing the spaces her children and grandchildren have sculpted into homes, the people they’ve become, and the amount of underlying beauty they see around them. That’s her legacy.

My Fall collaboration with @keep.archi on their Ardmore project was incredibly rewarding, in that it required a reorientation towards a more understated, observational approach to capturing space. The goal was to achieve a marriage of style, improvisation and precision, and I’m pretty happy with the outcome.
Our use of a 3:2 aspect ratio, stationary camera and deep focus was influenced by contemporaries in the Japanese architectural space, lifestyle Youtubers and “slow cinema” (Akerman, Ozu, etc.). We were on the lookout for things as abstract and *artsy* as textures, design symmetry and reflections, but we also wanted to stress the lived-in nature of the house.
The @homesbyarchitectstour tour was an opportunity for complete strangers to navigate the meticulously designed living quarters intently, creating desire lines and movement patterns that I incorporated into the work.
