After nearly a decade at my beloved SB&A @sba.pr and as co-owner, Iâm excited to introduce Julia Duke & Co.
A design industry communications & PR agency for artisan-driven brands, makers and innovative design talent.
@bates.molly will excitedly continue on at SB&A as sole principal/owner, carrying on the companyâs forty-two year legacy.Â
Â
Susan laid the groundwork for our industry, and to her Iâm forever grateful. Weâre both committed to honoring her legacy through this next chapter. My interest lies in building brands, along with narratives that would otherwise go untold and collaborating with peers and friends (like SB&A) to continue to make that possible!
Meet the Prairie Pendant - designed by @scottparks.studio in collaboration with @muhly.studio and debuting at @afternoonlight during NYCxDESIGN (May 16â19).
The ranch house these were designed for sits within a beautiful prairie meadow, and every element of the home was conceived to resonate with the surrounding landscape. Using galvanized steel felt especially fitting; itâs a subtle nod to the barn siding material commonly found throughout the area and a reflection of the larger context. The pendant casts a warm ambient glow above while allowing soft, playful light to filter through the hand-punched perforations below.
Come visit it at WSA. We hope to see you there.

What better to get mom than murano glass wares this Motherâs Day! Architectural Digest just shared a great story on shopping vintage and meaningful gifts, featuring insights from client Janine Carendi MacMurray (@areainteriordesign ).
MacMurray prioritizes âthe object itself, the weight of the glass, the control of form, and the depth of color.â Light wear, she says, âjust adds to the fact that itâs not new, that it has some soul.â Itâs an apt lesson for any vintage gift shopping.

In the News! Itâs been a busy start to springâscroll to check out the standout launches, projects, and stories our clients have been making waves with this season.
Built in the late 1800s, this limestone Italianate row house in Chicagoâs Lincoln Park has been thoughtfully restored by client Claire Staszak of Centered by Design (@centeredbydesign ).
Original European detailsâincluding a semicircular bay window, juliette balcony, thick plaster moldings, a brass and iron fireplace, and a stained glass skylightâset the tone for the renovation, where French antiques mix with contemporary custom pieces to balance historic elegance with modern livability. The result honors the homeâs formal roots while reimagining its richness for comfortable family living.
