Day 25 : 61 / 100 🔥 We’ve climbed about 12,000 meters of French limestone, sandstone, and conglomerate so far… One place that keeps challenging us: la Sainte-Victoire. We only had one day of good weather which apparently means starting before sunrise and climbing in 85 km/h winds. Not exactly the dream conditions for 1200 meters of climbing, but hey… we did it. One thing is certain there: at Sainte-Victoire, we always know the time we start… but we never know when we’ll finish. Turns out the mountain likes to keep the itinerary and the schedule. A balance between us came very naturally. "ZAHIR", Ouverture par Günther Habersatter et Iwan Wolf entre 1996 et 2004. Derrière une cotation, une performance, une ouverture il y a une histoire et je me suis souvent demandé qu'elle était la signification ou l'intention du nom donné par les ouvreurs à une voie d'escalade. Zahir en dialecte ancien haut allemand veut dire "larme" . En arabe Zahir porte le sens de "rayonnant." Dans la nouvelle de Borges, le Zahir est une personne ou un objet ayant le pouvoir de susciter l'obsession. Dans le roman de Coelho l'auteur raconte l'histoire de sa femme disparue du jour au lendemain et qu'il appelle son "Zahir" Pour l'histoire la femme de Günther, l'un des 2 ouvreurs, a perdu tragiquement la vie à cause d'une chute de pierre sur la marche d'approche de Zahir. Quelques années après Günther disparait dans une avalanche. Alors qu'elle est l'histoire et la vérité sur la signification de nom de cette voie...? On ne le sera jamais. Here’s the crux of pitch 2 (8a) of Zahir, @choongkatherine and I are giving everything. We spent the first 4 days on the wall figuring out all the pitches and installing the static ropes. It was tough, this place is no jokes! Climbing high above the bolt, with absolutely no idea which holds to grab I found myself thinking ‘I have no idea how I’m doing this’ but somehow I could. Full commitment. I love this feeling, it’s one of my favorite ones in climbing. Kathy’s support and golden vibes made me fly. ⚜️💛 Now my body feels wrecked, from the tip of my fingertips to the end of my toes 😮‍💨 But the adventure just started! Hopefully I can regrow some skin and courage for what’s to come 🤞 It’s amazing to spend time on this outstanding piece of rock in such good company, and to see that it’s possible to try this beast @ecopoint_climbing style.
