There are routes that stay quiet for years — and then come back even stronger. This is Dolby Surround.
@michaelakiersch has just made the first female ascent — and only the second repeat since a key hold broke, significantly changing the crux and pushing the route towards 9a+.
Fewer than 10 ascents in nearly 30 years.
“I’d been on Dolby Surround for just over two months — since early March, when the approach was still buried in snow and huge icicles were hanging off the route. It took around 20 sessions, more than anything I’ve ever tried. The crux is 11 powerful moves with absolutely no room to chalk or clip, finishing with a dyno to a good edge. It’s definitely the longest and most mentally challenging project I’ve ever taken on.”
A historic line above the turquoise river in Zillertal, with the sound of water in the background — and from today, a new chapter written.
A huge ascent — for its difficulty, its history, and what it represents in climbing today.
Congratulations, Michaela.

500 meters of pure commitment, intuition, and vision. On the face of Mont Dolent (3819m), @symon9v@este.dlg@virgile_devin and Baptiste Obino open “Les Berbères”: a new 500m route with difficulties up to M11. In mixed multipitch climbing, this truly belongs to another dimension.
A project built over a year of attempts, reading conditions with precision, dealing with questionable protection, mandatory moves, and that thin line between control and chaos that makes alpinism something unique.
“With the first swings of the ice axes, all the doubts disappeared. I love the direction mountaineering is taking today — this blend of styles and generations. The level is evolving at breakneck speed, and it’s exciting to be part of this journey.” — @symon9v
“To reinvent, to progress, to explore.”
Maybe this is exactly where modern alpinism is heading.

The rock holds every movement, every mark, every trace we leave behind.
Moving on rock means, first of all, respecting it: cleaning it, observing it, discovering new lines even before climbing them, and taking care of the places that make all of this possible.
This year too, Melloblocco has come to an end. And as always, this place still feels a little like home 🪨

The Climb World Tour is over. And yess, we already miss you.
The gyms we stopped at, the shared sessions, the laughs between attempts, the end‑of‑the‑day chats. Every stop felt special because of the people we met along the way, inside and outside the gyms.
The van has stopped and, sadly, this journey has come to an end. But this month is something we’ll remember for a long time — hopefully you will too.
You’ll still find us in gyms all around the world with our Test & Feel: climbing together, trying our shoes, and for anyone who hasn’t yet, getting the new Skwama Lite on their feet.
Stay tuned to see when we’ll be near you 👀
24 days and almost 5,500 km later, the Climb World Tour has come to an end.
We laughed, talked a lot, and tasted all kinds of food across Europe. But most of all, we spent so much time climbing together.
There are still plenty of projects in the works — maybe enough to justify another Climb World Tour 🫢 what do you think?
The journey might be over, but you can keep climbing with us and our shoes in gyms all around the world. Keep an eye on our website to see when we’ll be near you!
And as always: let’s go climbing!

On April 27, 2026, together with trusted partners @eti_janin and @tetostrad_ , @francoiscazzanelli opened Alla Ricerca del Drago: 14 pitches, 800 meters of climbing, graded R4 – AI 4+ – M7. A new line born from the desire to return to searching, exploring, and truly listening to the mountain.
With Étienne and Stefano, their eyes settled on this wall almost by chance. An obvious line, as if it had been waiting to be climbed. The route begins by linking the left variation of the Couloir Vanis with the northeast ridge. Then, from the base of the striking gendarme, everything changes: the line ventures into unexplored terrain, where every decision matters and the mountain offers nothing for free.
The setting is severe and uncompromising. Over fourteen pitches, the real challenge lies in continuity—in sustained focus, in the ability to remain fully present from start to finish.
The name encapsulates the true spirit of the ascent: the desire to experience something unique on a forgotten face, approaching it in a simple and honest way, without forcing the line. The dragon is the symbol Reinhold Messner used to describe the deepest essence of alpine adventure—that idea of the unknown still worth pursuing.
On this wall, François, Étienne, and Stefano did exactly that, in their own way. Quietly. Living an intense and genuine experience that remains, above all, in the memory of those who climbed it.
