Johnny Derango

For those of you who missed it, here is the trailer for @flightriskmovie . I had the pleasure of being asked to shoot this one for academy award winning director Mel Gibson. Getting to re-team with @markwahlberg and work with @tophergrace and Michelle Dockery was incredible. It was my first time utilizing Virtual Production on a project of this scale and I have to say I’m absolutely in love with what we captured. Making these images feel alive and believable was no small task, but thankfully I was surrounded by some of the best people working in the business today. From my genius Gaffer @andylohrenz and Lighting Programmer @thiselton to my Key Grip Mike Sasser and my brilliant camera team of A-Cam operator @samcamsystems , A-cam 1st AC Derek Plough and B-Cam @djmikeymix everyone elevated this film. Special thanks to @aputure.lighting whose lights I used almost exclusively on this shoot, @djiglobal whose Ronin 4D was utilized for some of the films trickier shots and @m_p_carter at @panavisionofficial who provided the lenses and camera packages. This couldn’t have been done without all of you. Finally thanks to @luxmc_ for their incredible onset work with the Volume. You guys are the absolute best.

Truly grateful to have lensed @icanonlyimaginemovie for @kingdomstorycompany and @lionsgate . While this may very well have been the best time I’ve ever had making a film, we definitely faced our fair share of challenges. From shooting a killer 8 page climactic sequence at @redrocksco in only 5 hours to working with the @arri A35 and @hawkanamorphic lenses the first time in my career, this one really pushed me. The Nashville based crew was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and our cast was incredible. While @john_michael_finley , Milo Ventimiglia, @sophie.skelton and @ariellekebbel shine on the screen they were even more kind and gracious behind the scenes. An absolute pleasure to see on set everyday. And, @thesammydell , well, I can’t wait for you to see what he brings to the screen, this young man is a star. Finally getting to work with Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle as directors was a career highlight. They knew exactly what they wanted and just how to tell a genuine and powerful story. I look forward to working with them many more times in the coming years.
