The last few weeks have been a humbling and healing experience.
First we were able to share our film @rhinomanthemovie with over 70 rangers from all around the continent at the African Ranger Congress. It was so special to be able to hear the way the film impacted them. Almost everyone in the room was in tears. Then we were able to accept our friend Anton Mzimba’s posthumous award for Best Game Ranger at the @africanconservationawards . Matt and I did our best to pay tribute to his legacy, and the entire room of rangers stood for a moment of silence in remembrance of our fallen heroes.
Finally, it was off to the @unitedforwildlife summit in London, where I was able to present on the Role of the Ranger alongside @matt.lindenberg of @theglobalconservationcorps , Altin Gysman of the @wildlifecollege , and Abi Gatty Irving of the @thingreenlineuk . I was able to speak about Anton’s life, death, and impact, and we shared the final scene of RHINO MAN. You could feel the emotion in the room, and the power of Anton’s words ringing out. It was such an honor to make this presentation in front of the Prince of Wales and 300 delegates from around the world.
Prince William, The Royal Foundation, and the United for Wildlife we’re all so supportive and committed to the rangers and the telling of their story.
My heart is full, and I’m more committed now than ever to getting this film out into the world in a big way, and bringing massive support for these heroic men and women on the frontlines, our rangers.

I’m full of tears and heartbreak today. My good friend Anton Mzimba—center of photo—was murdered by hitmen at his home last night. He was killed in cold blood because he followed his heart and fought for a better future; for rhinos, for nature, for his family and friends.
Anton was one of the most loving and caring people I’ve ever met. I had the privilege of spending endless hours with him out in the bush in 2018 and 2020. We’ve kept in touch nearly every week over the last two years. His spirits were always high, even in the darkest of times.
Anton was gracious enough to let us follow him and his team of rangers into the field and to his home to bring the life of a ranger in South Africa to the big screen. I’ve spent almost every free moment in the last 4 years trying my best to tell his story through our film Rhino Man. Now, when I look at his image, tears stream down.
He always said he knew the risks. The risks of being a ranger. The risks of sharing his story. But that doesn’t change the fact that his loss is devastating. He could have done so much more. His family could have had so many more years with him…
All we can do now is mourn his passing. Thank him for his life’s work. And honor his legacy by carrying his torch forward.
I would trade this film in a moment to bring Anton back… But now, telling his story is more important than ever. I will do everything I can to honor your memory, You are deeply missed. Rest In Peace my friend. 💔🦏

PODCAST🎙️Ep 6: Anton Mzimba - Life of a ranger at the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
In this episode, I'm talking with my good friend, Anton Mzimba. Anton has been a field ranger in South Africa for over 24 years, and he is currently the Head of Security for the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. In 2016, he won Best Field Ranger at the Rhino Conservation Awards. Anton also serves as a technical advisor for the Global Conservation Corps.
In this conversation, we talk about how Anton became a ranger, his days of training rangers at the @wildlifecollege , the role of a ranger and how it has changed over the years, the emotional toll of facing armed poachers, and how to navigate family life with a job that takes you away from home for long periods of time. We also dig into potential solutions to poaching, which include working closely with local communities, and we get Anton's thoughts on the coming release of Rhino Man.
