We’re proud to partner with Global Conservation Corps and their Future Rangers Program at schools bordering Kruger National Park 🌿
Starting at age five, learners receive in-school conservation education that grows with them year after year. This program includes classroom lessons, field trips into nearby reserves, mentorship from local role models, and practical use of technology.
By high school, students have a real sense of their strengths and interests, and they can see how those map to conservation and tourism careers.
That’s where the BHS Foundation steps in. Our bursary fund helps cover the job training and certifications that turn potential into employment.
The students in this video tell that story better than we ever could; what it means to learn about wildlife where they live, to be mentored, and to imagine a future in this field.
If you’d like to help a Future Ranger take the next step, learn more or support the bursary fund via the link in our bio 📋

From classroom to career. 🎓
Our partnership with the @theglobalconservationcorps Future Rangers Program is a vital piece of the puzzle, and one we’re incredibly proud of.
🌿 The Future Rangers Program begins in primary school, inspiring a love for nature through lessons, mentorship, and time spent in the wild. By the time students reach Grade 12, they’ve identified conservation-aligned interests and skills.
🦏 This is where the BHS Foundation lends a hand, supporting the next step through our bursary fund. This helps eligible graduates access the training and certification they need to launch their careers.
💚 Because every job in tourism sustains a life of passion and protects the wilderness we all love.
🦒 It’s about more than funding. It’s about forging futures, fueling purpose, and making sure that careers in conservation are possible for the youth living alongside South Africa’s wildest places.

The people behind the program 🌿
With so many moving parts across the organisation, we love it when the GCC team is all in one place at the same time.
This team lunch at @nourish_npo was a reminder that behind every experience, project, and field trip is a team united by purpose, passion, and a shared commitment to the work we do.
As we head into a new week, we’re grateful for moments like these that keep us aligned, energised, and connected to our collective vision ✨

Wildlife Wednesday: Lessons from Nature
This week’s inspiration: the Baobab tree
Known as the “Tree of Life,” the baobab is Africa’s ultimate masterclass in resilience.
Legend says the gods planted them upside down, leaving their roots reaching for the sky. These giants can grow 15 metres wide, storing thousands of litres of water to thrive when the land turns dry. They have served as ancient hollowed-out shelters, spiritual meeting places, and keepers of history.
With some living well over 1000 years, the baobab teaches us that true strength isn’t built overnight; it’s forged season by season.
Through the Future Rangers program, we learn that growth requires more than just talent; it requires patience, perseverance, and deep roots. 🌿
Black with white stripes or white with black stripes?
Out in the fresh air at Dayimani High School, Qoli leads the Future Rangers to finding the answer!🦓🍃
Here we take a sneak peek into one of our recent lessons in action, exploring zebra behaviour, adaptations, and the important role these animals play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Our online curriculum is designed to foster digital literacy skills, adding to the holistic value of the Future Rangers Program 💻🌍
We are committed to equipping the next generation of conservation leaders with 21st century skills - all through the medium of engaging classroom content✨

From the classroom to the canyon 🌿📚
Our April field trips to Blyde Dam with our Ambassadors were a powerful reminder that conservation begins with connection. When young people experience nature firsthand, learning becomes personal, meaningful, and lasting.
Through nature immersion and environmental education, the Future Rangers Program is helping empower the next generation of community conservation leaders- youth who understand that protecting our environment starts within the communities connected to it.
Communities that connect with nature are empowered to conserve it.

Happy 100th Birthday to the legendary Sir David Attenborough 💫
“No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.”
Your life’s work continues to inspire the Future Ranger Program, shaping the next generation of conservation leaders who learn to understand, value, and protect the natural world through real experience in the field.
A century of wisdom, wonder, and a legacy that will live on🌿🦏

Wildlife Wednesday: Lessons from Nature 🌍
This week’s inspiration: bees 🐝
Small but essential, bees are powerful system builders.
In the Greater Kruger region, several species occur - including the African Honey Bee, along with carpenter and leafcutter bees - all playing a role in pollination.
Working together, especially in honey bee colonies, each individual has a role. This teamwork supports entire ecosystems by enabling plant reproduction and sustaining biodiversity, and their strength lies in collaboration and shared purpose.
Through the Future Rangers program and partners like @nzatu_food_group young people are learning that small actions, working together, can have a big impact.

From Free State to KZN-and across borders-four of our CAP graduates took on a thrilling 3-day hike, proudly representing the Future Rangers Program. 🌍🥾
Accompanied by @mbhonicolbertmzamani and staying at @dinkoeng_tented_camp with the Bushbuckridge Hiking Club- Siya, Nhluri, Luka, and Jaffet conquered dramatic altitude shifts, towering cliffs, waterfalls, streams, and deep gorges. All bringing a powerful full-circle moment to life.
A moment that reflects our vision: connecting young people to nature, nurturing purpose, and growing the next generation of conservation leaders- as they immersed themselves in one of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth.

🌱 International Permaculture Day 🌍
Celebrated on the first Sunday of May, this day shines a light on ways of living and growing that work with nature, not against it.
Through the Future Rangers Program, our Sprout Scouts are spending time in the garden- learning how to plant seeds, care for the soil, and contribute meaningfully to the school feeding program.
This is what we share with you through the GCC Experience- hands-on, fully immersive, and rooted in real impact.

Wildlife Wednesday: Lessons from Nature 🌍
This week we feature the Flap-necked Chameleon 🦎
Named for the loose skin flaps (occipital lobes) behind its head, this chameleon uses them to appear bigger and scare off predators when threatened; a simple but effective survival tactic.
While it’s known for blending in, this species reminds us that adaptation isn’t just about hiding. Sometimes, it’s about standing your ground and changing how others see you.
Through the Future Rangers program, we teach the importance of adaptability, and the flap-necked chameleon serves as a brilliant living example of this behaviour. 🌿
