I place my practice in the middle of the social domain. These figurative narrative textile works play a central role: as a pamphlet against injustice, an imagination of friendship, the development of a ritual… The work relies on the many images and stories that occur simultaneously around a specific event. By juxtaposing an abundance of perspectives, the work resists absolute truths and structures. Mijn praktijk vindt plaats in het midden van het sociale domein. Hierbij spelen mijn figuratieve verhalende textielwerken een centrale rol: als een pamflet tegen onrecht, een verbeelding van vriendschap, de ontwikkeling van een ritueel… Het werk concentreert zich op de vele beelden en verhalen die gelijktijdig plaatsvinden rond een bepaalde gebeurtenis. Opening GIVE US SOME OF IT - aanstaande vrijdag 1 mei om 17.00 uur bij Het Archief Artspace Openingsperformance vanaf 17.00 uur door het publiek in de installatie van jip van der hek, *Jump, bounce back!*. Kunstenaars: Yosra Abbady, Liraz Attias, jip van der hek Een onderzoekstentoonstelling in Het Archief Artspace geïnitieerd door wolf engelen Kunstenaar wolf engelen daagde Yosra Abbady, Liraz Attias en jip van der hek uit om hun werk in dialoog te brengen, omdat hij inspirerende inhoudelijke overeenkomsten ziet in hun visueel sterk uiteenlopende praktijken. De kunstenaars namen de uitnodiging aan en met z’n vieren besloten ze in de periode voorafgaand aan de tentoonstelling regelmatig bij elkaar op atelier te gaan. Een ateliergesprek dat tegelijkertijd amoreel en liefdevol kan zijn opent een ongebreidelde creatieve ruimte. Gezamenlijk ontwikkelde ideeën gaven genereus energie en richting aan nieuwe werken. Goed om te weten: alle drie de kunstenaars figuren in de schilderijen van Yosra Abbady. Niet per se belangrijk om te weten, maar wel een feit: de enorme onrust op het wereldtoneel gooide regelmatig een steen in de vijver. De titel - GIVE US SOME OF IT - lijkt op te roepen tot solidariteit, maar het geduld lijkt op: delen is helen, verschil mag er wezen maar gekker moet het niet worden! GIVE US SOME OF IT is te zien vanaf aanstaande vrijdag 1 mei t/m zondag 7 juni. CUT, CARE AND MOVE (a public one-on-one performance for the TENT team: April 26, 2024, 8:00-11:00 PM, by Jip van der Hek, performed during the Multi-Evening, Moving Out Party) Ingredients: two square meters of bleach drawings (positive and negative) processed textile, scissors and golden safety pins. The two canvases associatively depict the complexity of a move. After 25 years, TENT is exchanging their exhibition house in a monumental art center in the city center for a former laboratory in the plinth of a residential apartment building in West. Everything is changing. One canvas is completely cut up on the farewell evening and incorporated into the outfits of the TENTTEAM and the other hangs, mounted on concrete mesh with magnets, in their new office. @tentrotterdam 📸@stadsklooster

For our first live performance during @worm_rotterdam 25th anniversary, we are looking for volunteers! We are looking for 5 vampire butlers 🧛🏻‍♀️ who want to serve food during the main course 🍝 You need to be available on the 27th of September between 19-21pm for the performance and earlier in the afternoon for a set rehearsal. And when we did manage to sit her down, our cameras went haywire faster than you can say “divine intervention.” Her energy was so strong! Radiating through the whole building, neighbours made serious complaints. Introducing Sean Kevin de Jong, your new favourite next-door vampire, the vamp with the local flavour - dropped and bred in Roffa, oftewel geboren en getogen. Turned in the neon glow of the 80s, nestled between containers at Waalhaven, he’s the youngest non-beating heart in the vampire house. Look for him ar nightfall, Sean’s on the prowl for simple pleasures: a quick hustle, a fat joint in a hidden alley, or perhaps a bit of mischief with a willing companion. Consent is key, he pointed out many times to our camera crew. “We’ve got 4ever to chill,” he’d say, shrugging off the weight of eternity with a nonchalant grin. But deep down, beneath the bravado and bluster, Sean yearns for the mundane: a cozy home, a steady job, and maybe even a family of his own.
