Fragments has made it into the Top 25 of @straight_8_ London!
For those who don’t know, Straight 8 is a legendary filmmaking competition where each short film is shot on a single roll of Super 8 film — no editing, no second takes, and not even the filmmakers get to see the final result until it premieres in the cinema.
Out of hundreds of entries from around the world, only 25 are selected to screen in London — and Fragments is one of them.
We’re incredibly proud of the entire crew — your talent, dedication, and creativity brought this project to life under some truly unique constraints. Thank you for pouring your hearts into it. This recognition belongs to all of you.

Johnny Dragon takes a bold approach to action filmmaking, blending a range of visual styles to match each unique fighting sequence. Switching formats from 16mm to 35mm, spherical to anamorphic, the cinematography captures everything from sharp, high-contrast action to dreamy vintage tones—thanks to @vastvalley2023 for matching lenses for each look.
Staying true to analog, we used in-camera effects like over/under-cranking, speed ramps, and double exposures—even scratching the negatives for added texture! Huge shoutout to @kodak_film_lab London for supporting all our wild film stock choices. @the_filmlab_guy
Director @fionncon ’s stunt background was a game-changer, bringing precision to each shot and letting us grab extra takes.
A favorite? The glam catwalk scene, full of fun, glitz, and everyone’s input on the shot list.
