Everybody has a mother A mother carries every child But Every mother's not a mommy Every mother's not a mom Every mother doesn't take the time to calmly Sit applying balm To cuts and scrapes of different shapes Some on the skin and some within A little heart about to break Every mother's not a mom Every mother's not a mama Every mother doesn't have the grit To deal with endless drama Scrapes and fights and sleepless nights And packing snacks for red eyed-flights And teaching kids to read by sight And singing songs by firelight And tucking tight beneath moonlight And loving right I've heard our kids call you mama Mommy, Mom and even Ma In fact, the only thing I haven't heard them call you is Mother. You're a one-of-a-kind Mom and our kids are lucky. Happy mother's day Lindsay.

Arthur Willard Weaver passed away today, April 7 2026 at 3:30 am. He was born on November 29, 1923. The 102 years of life that was lived in-between was truly exceptional. One of the great men. I say that with absolutely no irony. I'm so lucky to have grown up in the shadow of such a moral giant as my grandfather. Dad x6. Grandpa x17. Great Grandpa x38. Many more if you count those that thought of him as these things. Husband. Surgeon. Missionary. WWII Veteran. I loved him utterly and he knew how much I admired him. I did not leave anything unsaid. I feel incredibly sad, but his death is not tragic. He lived one of the best lives a man can live and died peacefully with family surrounding and caring for him. He was not afraid of dying. He knew he was just moving to the waiting room for a well deserved nap. As my Dad often said of my Grandpa, “If I could live to be half the man my father is, I would feel like I accomplished something great”. That is also how I feel. I will have more to say in the coming days and months about him, his death, and dying in general, but for now I’ll leave it here: “When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety. When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear. When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance, fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of dark, cold caves. And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed." -Maya Angelou

Everyone could use a little back extension love in their life (especially my blue collar bros) but most people don't have a fancy shmancy roman chair. No worries! Use any flat surface that you can attach some nylon webbing or a loop of rope to (my preferred method is a Werner work platform). That's all you need to perform a Blue Collar Back Extension (TM) Seems like something @comediangingerbilly would be into? Where you at @wernersafetyaboveall 👀?!! #indoorrowing #rowing #crossfit #garagegym #strengthtraining

Trying to bulletproof your back with Reverse Hypers, but light on the fancy equipment? Do you have a shelf in your barn? An old tire? A foam pad? Some nylon strapping and a 45 lbs plate? Well, that's all you need to get that lumbar lumbawesome with Hillbilly Hypers (TM). This setup worked surprisingly well! I'd be interested to hear what janky (creative) strength training setups @chrisscott6300 , @loicschalbetter , @bigphil90 , @kuivalainenjoonas , and anyone else have used. #strength #workouthacks #crossfit #indoorrowing #rowinglife

30 Cal challenge! (ft @chrisscott6300 ) 25.1 seconds. This might be only the second time I've rowed in calories and it clearly confused me at the end when I stopped 2 strokes short. Doh! Peak Calories/hr = 4843 Average Calories/ hr = 4158 25.1 seconds And then a follow up at 25.9 I've been taking a break from sprinting for the past few weeks and needed something fast and fun to get the wheels turning again before too much rust builds up 🚂 I want to see some #hyrox and #crossfit athletes take a crack! 👀 @jcore23 @megurevick @ashleynicolewade27 @fullsteamcrossfit @concept2inc #rowing #indoorrowing #indoorrower

This rock that we're on is turning. Imperceptibly spinning cartwheels, end over end. Each day another somersault. Flipped on its head like an hourglass. We measure our lives by these whirligig increments. This many days, that many months, and year upon year. Never actually seeing the earth spinning. Never perceiving the sun tracing its arc across the sky. Except at the end of the day. At the end of the day we perceive this flaming ball of gas burning billions of miles away is moving. Slipping gently behind the grassy hill, just over yonder. We take this rotisserie motion for granted until we can clearly see it. Until we stop and take the time to notice it. I, far too often, take you for granted. Take the beauty of life, and our beautiful life, for granted. And for this I apologize. The beautiful is still beautiful without being noticed. But your particular beauty deserves to be noticed far more often. This shambled head of mine is screwed on too loosely much of the time. Too loosely to remember to take the time. The whole of you is very beautiful. And I want to take the time. Goodnight 2025. Here's to 2026 and taking the time. I love you Lindsay, Happy Birthday.

100 meters. This was the race where I redeemed myself on #supersprintsunday at the @britishrowing indoor championships! I love a good 100m pull. No thoughts. All aggression. My best static 100m pull to date was 13.0 seconds. Today I rowed a 13.1 with a race start! A race start, if timed poorly, can take as much as .5 seconds off an attempt. I tried to time the start perfectly and it worked! This was enough for silver 🥈! I'm thrilled about this, especially in such a stacked field against the likes of the 100m 👑 @loicschalbetter 🥇, @frazerbrent 🥉, @chrisscott6300 @cpughcoaching and others. Huge congratulations to Loic who pulled the fastest ever 100m in a live race at 12.7s 🫨 Thanks to @bigphil90 for lending me his mass to hold the erg down, much appreciated big man. #indoorrowing #erging #rowing #rowinglife #concept2 #strength #indoorrower #rowingrelated #rowingmachine #ergsprints @concept2inc @concept2greg @worldrowing_indoor @worldrowingofficial @ergzone

Hopped over the pond to participate in the @britishrowing Indoor Championships this weekend. Here's my full 500 meter race. I tied my best ever live 500m effort of 1:14.3, which got me a first place finish for the US Championships this past February. In this event, however, it netted me a 6th place finish as it was one of the fastest group of 500m racers ever at a live event. Perhaps THE fastest, with 6 finishers under 1:14.5 and three under 1:13.3. Insane power on display from @bigphil90 @anderse000 @loicschalbetter Freddie Stuart and @chrisscott6300 I can't speak more highly of @britishrowing for running what has turned into THE premier indoor live event of the year. Tomorrow will be a full day of super fun sprinting! Stoked to race the elusive 250m and 100m as well as a 4000 meter relay. #supersprintsunday #indoorrower #indoorrowing #erging #concept2 #strength #rowing #rowinglife #britishrowingindoorchampionship #britishrowing @concept2inc @worldrowing_indoor

Just did a 1 minute TT and was not expecting a 7 meter PB! I've been training consistently, but carefully, for the last few weeks because I've had some SI joint pain that I've pinpointed to tight piriformis and QL muscles. I've been doing targeted stretching and rolling. Spending time on the bike and doing strength training that doesn't cause any pain. Hack squat, low row machine and t bar pulls. I've limited my top speed sprinting to allow myself to heal. Today the SI joints felt loose and were silent for the first time in a few weeks. During my warm up I finally felt like I was back to being able to pull at full chooch. So I did some race visualization and decided to treat it mentally like a 200m sprint and then hold on for dear life. Very happy and slightly surprised to see the result. Ranked #1 this year on @concept2inc 🌎 rankings. I'm sure the other big boys will have something to say about that shortly though :) DF 167 #indoorrowing #indoorrower #erging #powerpulling #crossfit #hyrox #concept2 #garageathlete #strength #britishrowingindoorchampionship #britishrowing #usrowing #rowing #rowinglife #rowingrelated #rowingmachine #sisäsoutu

Week 3 - Metronome 21 continuous minutes of rowing for max meters. The catch is that we had to increase our stroke rate every 3 minutes (7 different rates spanning 18 spm). Hefty penalties if you miss the rate on any given interval. Where to start? How high can I rate at the end of 21 minutes? I had lots of questions before starting this one. I wasn't expecting to do very well on this one to be completely honest. Up until recently I've been focused on power production and neglecting my lungs somewhat. I was thinking I'd be lucky to get a top 10 finish going into my first attempt. It went better than expected! No penalties and I finished above 6000 meters and knew I had more in the tank. Rate 34 was definitely uncomfortable, but doable. I tried again with the goal of over 6050 meters and again, felt very within my limits. I would very much have liked to go one more time on this workout, but alas I was on vacation for the last week of this month and it wasn't in the cards. 7th overall for this workout, but still (barely) holding onto 1st in the competition. Congratulations to the big lungs @ergsandweights @sebastiansolari.solari @ivansa2018 @anderse000 and especially to @dan.veejay and @david_rackstraw for sniping me last minute (a move I am normally trying to make 😂) @worldrowing_indoor @worldrowingofficial @concept2inc #indoorrowing #indoorrower #erging #rowing #rowinglife
