Good afternoon! We’re back with a brand-new Background Radio series. This time, we recorded multiple mixtapes at our friends over at ted Amsterdam; a design studio specializing in design objects and contemporary art. Thanks again for having us! The first DJ we invited is a very special one. He goes by the name of @jerrau__ : an incredibly passionate and talented DJ with a deep knowledge of all kinds of music genres. Over the years, he’s played all around the globe and, besides DJ’ing, he also works as a curator/programmer at Sissi’s. I mean… how much into music can you be? 💥 Anyway… he delivered a super relaxed Background Radio set, so sit back and enjoy!

Relive Lauden by Jerrau on Subtle Radio. The sound of a club night’s afterglow, carefully selected and mixed without losing pace. “For this mix, I envisioned my bike ride home after leaving the club at 7 AM, still sweating from a night-long dance. These rides are always blessed with a special afterglow that carries a contradiction: on the one hand you still want to keep going, on the other it’s time to wind down. This mix is my interpretation of that feeling, one closely connected to the transition from night into day. Please enjoy this mix when you’ve just got out of a chaotic (but fun) night out <3” Find the mix through the link in bio and the tracklist on the last slide. Jerrau takes over Lauden on @subtleradio , airing tomorrow morning at 8 AM (CET). Tune in for the sound of a club night’s afterglow. Jerrau has carved out a singular path within the Dutch electronic music landscape, navigating between percussive grooves, bass-heavy cuts and deeper escapes with ease and flow. This strong sense of contrast and rhythm, makes the Dutch-Surinamese selector’s contribution to Lauden a natural fit. Whether at festivals like Horst, Lowlands and Dekmantel or in club settings, Jerrau constantly offers glimpses of his extensive library, never compromising on his influences and inspirations. Beyond the booth, he supports fellow artists by hosting a monthly radio show and curating open-minded club events. Don’t miss the Lauden take by Jerrau. Tune in tomorrow morning for his soundtrack to the transition from night into day, ending at dawn. Get Familiar with Jerrau now on our blog. Over the past few years, Jerrau has quietly but confidently carved out his place as one of Amsterdam’s most versatile and forward-thinking DJs. Effortlessly moving between breakbeats, bass-heavy club sounds, alternative electronic hip-hop and soulful house, the Surinamese-Dutch selector has built a reputation for sets that are hard to categorise but impossible to ignore. Jerrau’s approach has always been rooted in curiosity, culture and an instinctive understanding of the dancefloor. Now, after years of refining his voice behind the decks, he steps into a new chapter with his debut EP, It All Starts With This, released on Who’s Susan. A project shaped by discipline, mentorship and a deep love for bass lineage — from Amsterdam to the UK and beyond — the record marks a deliberate beginning. Inspired as much by Sonic soundtracks as by sound system pressure, Jerrau’s move into production feels less like a pivot and more like a natural extension of the world he’s been building all along. We caught up with him to talk about finally committing to the studio, learning to let go during a month-long residency in Nicaragua, his unexpected place within the Black British music ecosystem, and why, whether DJing or producing, the room always comes first.
