In honor of his new album “656” here’s a throwback to 2014 when I got this joint up outside Terrace Ave. Apartments in Hempstead for the great @rocmarci

My third piece in this series of neighborhood paintings. Look for your favorite spots. Sadly, most were lost in the Eaton fire, but they’ll never be forgotten.
rap quotes in real life by @jayshells_
jay shells is a new york-based artist best known for his “rap quotes” project, where he creates street signs featuring hip-hop lyrics and installs them at the exact locations mentioned in the raps. in an interview with the hundreds, he revealed that the idea began in new york city when he installed the first sign in harlem quoting big l’s line “139 and lenox.”
since then, the project has expanded to cities like los angeles, atlanta, and philadelphia. shells has also featured lyrics from nas, jay-z, kendrick lamar, lauryn hill, outkast, travis scott, drake, and more, turning his project into a living archive of hip-hop’s geographic history.
