I decided my first ever mountain bike race should be a big one and the Sea Otter Fuego XL was just that. What a learning experience it was! Despite not finishing in the timeframe I set I still finished within the top 50 and most importantly I had fun doing it. Thank you to everyone who was trackside cheering me on it truly pulled me out of the trenches and kept me pushing. I truly love bikes and look forward to my next race!
Waking up above the clouds was just magical. I’ll forever be grateful to have this so close to home.

Who knew that riding and pushing your 50 pound bike at 10,000ft elevation would be so humbling. This route proved to be one of the most physically demanding rides I have ever done and man did I learn a lot. You really just don’t know the effects of elevation on your body until you’re in it. Thankfully the beauty and pure solitude of the backcountry singletrack made up for it. I’m grateful to have spent time in the wilderness with people I now call family. Until next time Colorado.

This past Saturday probably was one of the most humbling experiences I think I’ve had to date. I got to hike my first 14er here in Colorado and my god was it harder than I anticipated. As soon as we got to the first incline the altitude hit me like a brick wall and I thought I was genetically going to pass out or my eyeballs were going to fall out of my skull. I eventually found my rhythm though and that was slow and steady. Thank you Scott and Courtney for taking this on with me. I don’t think I could have done it without the constant witty banter in between my gasps for air! So when’s the next one?
