Finishing up a commission helmet for @stevey565 - decided to go clean this time, no dots, v stoked on how it turned out!
Took almost as long to mask and unmask as it did to paint it!!
Also if you haven’t..check out the new @arewenothomefront album!!
Went to AZ to run my first trail ultra.. the 40 mile Flagstaff Crest.. the “fun run” for the @cocodona250
May have carried a bit of hubris to think I could run 40 miles..considering I run about 2 hours a week.. but full send right!??
Felt amazing for the first 18 miles!! Then hit a wall..hard..shout out to the coors light in my mile 22 drop bag..it saved my life.. and I made it to mile 27 (my first marathon) before pulling the plug..
Turns out yer boy has some cinderella feet.. and while I probably could have finished before sunset, the prospect of painfully walking for 5 hours..maybe next time…
But learned a ton, ate some humble pie, and got stoked to train a little and toughen up my feet for next time!
Rested for a day then went on a “short” run to a swimming hole to cliff jump and drink beer..and felt immediately better about life.
📸 @kylarosemaher - who also sandbagged the fuck out of me and told me “i’d be fine” - in fact I was not fine😂
TLDR : @cncptteam raced one of the hardest road races in America, got fully skeletal, and had a great time!!
I learned how to race road bikes in the hills of Sonoma County, @levileipheimer taught me how to echelon and pace line during early season @grasshopperadventureseries races… So to be able to come back and race @levisgranfondo Growler with @alvinescajeda was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up!
Even if I wasn’t ready..ultra training is not road race training… like basically “off the couch” for a 138 mile 14000k race with a heavy roster of former and current world tour pro’s and gravel professionals. It was still an honor and privileged to even line up in the same start grid as people as fast and talented as the front row call ups.
Funny thing..it didn’t suck, yea it hurt a lot, yea we only hung with the group (groupetto) till the first climb. But we had an amazing day out, settled into ultra pace and pushed moderately hard till the finish. Got to see the tactics in the women’s race as they hit the base of Skaggs (spoiler..smarter and more interesting than the mens). Got Iced by @s0ulthief in the feed zone, and was able to ride with/pull for SO many great folks out there over the course of the day.
May not have been near the pointy end of the race (although the live stream was great to rewatch later) but still had an amazing time out sending some of the best roads NorCal has to offer.
And make all the jokes you want..if road racing is gonna come back to America in a real way..this is what’s it’s gonna look like!! … but only if they sort out what happened to @chloespritz .. ALL racers need clear communication and acceptance.

All this and more in another bike check you neither asked for nor wanted…ANZA BORREGO EDITION
Ripping little desert tour last weekend - warm nights and hot days kept it spicy.
Pack light, shred fast, sleep late, and ride into the sunsets.
The boys were ON!!
Three pieces. One collection. A decade in the making.
@notchas and Cinelli go back further than most people know — alleycats, criteriums, frame design, a Hobo MTB across Africa.
Shred Life is drawn from daily life — the things Chas sees, uses, and says. Some simple. Some serious. Some nonsensical.

From a San Francisco alleycat to Red Hook Crit to designing frames to this.
Fifteen years. Still shredding.
