Back in the hospital again, this time for 6-8 weeks. I was doing really well, walking without crutches, exercising, running around town, living my life almost normally. Then on Monday the 11th of May, my leg started really hurting. I thought I had just worked out too hard and pulled some muscles in my leg and back. I spent the day in bed. Then the next evening, Henrieke took me to the emergency room with a high fever and very fast heart rate. They pulled fluid from my knee and tested it and said it was septic and they operated immediately. This time they removed the entire prosthetic knee, leaving the upper and lower bones connected with a concrete spacer soaked in antibiotics. I cannot put any weight on this temporary solution. I have lie still for 4-6 weeks and take intravenous antibiotics until its sure that its completely clean. After that, they can put a new knee in, and I can start the whole process over, healing the scar tissue, rebuilding the lost muscle and learning how to walk again. The process should take about two months if I’m lucky. I’m still in shock. things were finally going so well! I had two gigs in Berlin at Renate and Sisyphos this month, and two spectacular ones in Czech Republic and Italy, ones that also would have helped financially. I won’t make any of those now. I will also miss my son’s, my wife’s, and my own birthday, unable to leave the hospital. I cannot tell you how or why this happened, I guess maybe the bacteria was hiding under the metal still and was released when I was working out? In any case, this room is my home for May and June. I am grateful to be alive, and for the love and care of my family and particularly my darling Henrieke.
Then, on the 1st of Janurary 2012, @oliverkoletzki and I put this out for his label @stilvortalent . I think Oliver paid 1500 for this video, 800 was the limo rental. The rest went to @philippvirus , who was an innovator in LED lighting for film at the time. Greets to all the friends in this video too, in the last scene and in the text. Much love! #jaketherapper #50waystoloveyourliver #berlin #oliverkoletzki #stilvortalent
How it started… 2004.
@alexandliane did this video with me in one afternoon in their living room. They were part of @redesigndeutschland , spearheaded by @mrpaulsnowden who helped me put out my first album, and generally believe myself as an artist. Then in 2015 @steve_bug helped me realise this crazy idea by reamimating his alter ego @trafficsigns on his label @pokerflat , and hiring @benandjulia to make it even crazier. And thanks also to making the funky cookies dance, they are all @earth.diana !
In the dark hours of Saturday morning into dawn, @jaketherapper held the bus and guided us through one of those moments you don’t forget.
After the burn, he went in for knee surgery and has since faced serious complications, multiple operations, and a long road to recovery.
We’re sharing his set in honor of that morning, and his GoFundMe for anyone who feels called to support.
Link to his set and GoFundMe in bio.

We love you Jake!
Poem from Jake:
Remember that night that led to the dawn in the dust on the bus
Though We love the man, in the heart of the robot we trust
Moving in time as we feel it, regardless of class
Aligned with the spirit of effortless dance
Free of stress - in body, mind and Ass
Lets relive the moments that passed

JAKE THE RAPPER @jaketherapper for BerlinDJs I @bachstelzen OpenAir Rummelsburg I Berlin 2012

📸 BerlinDJs - PORTRAIT DER ELEKTRONISCHEN MUSIK-SZENE IN BERLIN
#BerlinDJs is a series of #DarkPortraits documenting the #BerlinElectronicMusicArtists since 2012, captured on #Hasselblad by #davidulrichphoto
So @mischakerkhoven and @recycle.ricco gave me this cloth bag that Ricco found under a pile of stuff when he was moving. The bag had all sorts of other goodies in it, and THIS was the print on the front of the bag! The Obelix legend continues to be a story of coincidences! Thank you guys!!
Three artists performing at this year’s Garbicz Festival are going to fill our new stage with some summer groove.
At the same time Velvet Vortex will allow you to explore the deepest levels of techno.
All this for free – if you come early enough.
