Jack Yates High School Celebrates 22 Magnet Scholars Selected for the 2026 Eye on Houston Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Jack Yates High School proudly announces that 22 student photographers from the School of Communications have been selected for the prestigious 2026 Eye on Houston: High School Documentary Photography Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH).
This year’s exhibition marks a historic milestone, with a record-breaking 1,288 submissions from across the city. Jack Yates Scholars earned an exceptional share of the final 100 selected works, with several students achieving recognition for consecutive years. Their powerful images reflect the depth, resilience, and creativity of Houston’s youth.
The students continue the legacy of the renowned “Eye on Third Ward” program, founded by celebrated Yates educator and photographer Ray Carrington III, whose mentorship and vision helped shape generations of storytellers. Today’s scholars carry that tradition forward, documenting their communities with honesty, artistry, and purpose led by Danielle Mason
