Man what a semester it has been for us at JY! I wanted to post yesterday, but emotions were at an all time high for me and the students.
Congrats to our Wind Ensemble for receiving a 1-2-2 on stage and 1-1-2 in Sight Reading! Even though this is not what we were aiming for, and not what we thought we deserved, I’m super proud of the way these kids performed yesterday. The kids sounded immaculate on stage and performed like I knew they would!! It’s crazy to see how much we’ve grown over this semester, individually and as an ensemble!!
That sweepstakes trophy was supposed to be ours, but this adds fuel to the fire for next year! 😤
At the end of the day, the students did what they were supposed to do, and I could not be more proud of each and every one of them!! On to next year, and back to the drawing board 🫡🤫
Huge shoutout to Mr. Cedric Todd for coming out to JY this morning to audition our seniors and juniors! All seniors were offered a full ride to Arkansas Baptist College, with a guaranteed out of pocket cost of $0!
Congratulations to our Senior tuba player and Band Captain Ethan Sanchez for being offered over $200,000 in band scholarships from Miles College, Prairie View A&M University, Alcorn State University, Clark Atlanta University, Xavier University, Wiley College, Texas Southern University, and Southern University and A&M College, at the HBCU Band Combine today!
