Had a great time collaborating with Pol Taburet, an artist I’ve been strangely obsessed with for ages. For the new ish of Another Man we talk about MTV, the swamp near his mum’s house in France, and the influence of her sketchbook, where local dealers are reimagined as the arc angel and Roman cardinals
Space Jams #1: @kaiwhiston
Asked some musicians to make tunes using the real sounds of space NASA released on Soundcloud a few years back, and first up is the interstellar spectacular TRUE NULL VECTOR SYSTEM by Kai Whiston (there aren’t many laughably good producers out there, but Kai is one imo). Go follow @spacejunk.mag more dropping soon

Slide two: the remains of America’s first space ship, which crashed into an area 500 miles east of Perth in the late 1970s. The machinery was shot by Magnum legend Trent Parke for The Pilot Issue. The ship was sent up to test the psychological effects of space travel on three NASA astronauts. Charlie Fox wrote original short stories for each piece. Unbelievable cover feature intersecting urban exploration, human resources, Cold War propaganda, speculative fiction, all the good stuff
Hello. I’ve started a new newsletter for Another Man, it goes by the name of Obsessions Index. I interviewed human hieroglyph Alejandro Jodorowsky for the first one, it’s up now.
It’s different to the usual magazine letter, with monthly guest editors talking about rare stuff (and some more obvious stuff).
It includes a mix by the legendary @simonmparris , go check it out, the link is above

Worked on a big project with @fitzcarraldoeditions for the new issue of @another_man , commissioning five original short fictions by Camilla Grudova, Heather McAlden @lesjeuneselectric , Polly Barton @pollybukuro , Jose Henrique Bertoluci @ze_bortoluci (translated by @pranghul ) + Oluwaseun Olayiwola @itsamule . The series, which uses macguffins like magic and prisons to explore loneliness, feudalism and power, goes online from Monday — In Dulce jubilo to Clare Bogan and Jacques Testard, Ellie, Another Man team etc
A few pages from the spring issue, out today
Inside I spoke to Kane Parsons, who used to break into the dilapidated wing of an LA hotel that once hosted the Oscars. He turned a Reddit horror creepypasta into a YouTube short called the Backrooms, an infinitely connected maze of empty office space that were inspired by the hotel. The film was way better than it needed to be (like Chris Cunningham’s Rubber Johnny imagined by Escher and James Whale) and a studio is turning it into a full movie. He also speaks about his obsession with urban exploration, lucid dreams and portal 2 - link is up now.

Delighted and horrified to launch New Labour
In the summer issue of @dazed out today, I wrote about the ambient generational wars burning up the abattoirs, coder rooms, farms and brickyards of the UK. People like @rattle_kings , @b_spoke_ and @athianakec speak on the ways they use tech to blow the dust off the types of jobs that defined generations of work

SPECULATIVE CHILDREN'S FICTION at St Mary Magdelene's primary school, in @Dazed 's 'New' issue out TODAY
-also featuring the climate group junking paintings @just.stopoil , Kieran Morris on Forensic Architecture, Gunseli on finding digital spirits, Imruh breaking some world records, Kacion’s white label Clint/Cortiez interview and other scraps / insanities picked up on the way 👼
Wrote a piece called ‘Wham’ about the weirdest celebrity car crashes in London for forthcoming car manual zine, Lf5tl. Like Ballard’s Crash reimagined by Simon Cowell or Nasty Nigel, featuring Agatha Christie’s disappearing road trip, Barbara Streisand’s face-reading mystic, + Arthur Conan Doyle. With zero knowledge of cars I assume the role of James Spader, voyeuring all the motorway logic with a pair of horrific binoculars. Link in the usual boring place 🎷😱💦
Massive September issue out now. Ib and Jack Davison for autumn 22
I interviewed five AI scientists about how machine learning might enable us to talk to animals, and Holly Herndon and Debit about AI and music
