Coffee appreciation isn’t limited to any level. It’s about exploring what we like and what we don’t.
I had the opportunity to run a community-building session with the Katong Community Centre recently.
Using the Solright DB-1 grinder, which features conical 55mm burrs, we were able to bring out clarity and sweetness in every cup. The consistency of grind particles help highlight the coffee origin’s character.
Just like coffee, community building is about bringing people together without barriers to explore and enjoy what they love.
When I first graduated, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.
Little did I know that coffee would become the medium for me to share knowledge and create moments like this.
Connecting people through the love of coffee. I’m truly grateful for opportunities like these.

Thankful for the opportunity to host a private Coffee Appreciation class for a luxury brand that’s founded in 1847, just like coffee.
It’s a long history of refinement to the result today, everyone along the way has contributed to what specialty coffee is today.

Brewing class is structured around four key parts:
Framework – how to think about filter brewing as a system, focusing on intention, consistency, and cause-and-effect starting with fixed recipes 🧮
Variables – understanding what actually changes the taste (dose, grind size, water, time) and how adjusting one variable affects intensity and clarity 🍇🍒🍋🍓🍑
Understanding Tools – explaining the purpose of kettles, drippers, grinders, filters, and scales, focusing on why they matter instead of brand names 🛠️
Troubleshooting – teaching participants how to diagnose common issues like sour, bitter, weak, or inconsistent brews and how to fix them confidently 😛😋
The goal is to help first-timers understand and troubleshoot their own brews, so they can brew confidently at home knowing what to be adjusted. ☺️

This competition also connected me with incredible people, including Jason, founder of @myliberica.coffee . As an entrepreneur, his clarity of vision and journey to the world stage truly inspired me. Always something to learn when you’re surrounded by people who are driven and grounded.

August and September were really special months for me. I had the honour of hosting @theirontongue@youngsdrip.exp in Singapore together with the wonderful team from @ppp.coffee . The energy and teamwork we shared made the whole experience unforgettable.
Right after that came the Singapore Home Barista Throwdown, organised by @singaporecoffee , where I officiated the opening ceremony of @sg_coffeeweek for the very first time. It was such a meaningful moment, surrounded by so many passionate people in the community.
I truly enjoyed working alongside @zheng43 , @baristartist , and Ivan Lim as part of the judging team. Thank you for having me, it was an absolute pleasure.
August was pretty fun. Am honoured to be able to represent @beansandbeats.mp3 to attend @ctrl_pour . Where professionals from the beverage industries shares ideas and thrive together as a whole.
