“el instante centellea” is Zoomin’ Night latest cassette album by Jack Herscowitz, an electronic musician but on this album he wrote two compositions for solo instrument, violin and piano. Side A “and then at last, we shall rest” was performed by his friend Simone Maura, and Side B “el instante centellea” was performed by himself. Some quote from Jack’s linenote: “……… They both set into a motion a clear and unidirectional process towards a single resting point. Yet, despite their adherence to fixed formal and temporal structures, the experience of listening to and performing both pieces continues to surprise me. ……… Their duration is thus imbued with potential, as their material directness, oxymoronically, begets their depth; each piece transcends its formal process.” Cover art work by Dahong Hongxuan Wang @dawhong

“Lullaby is a piece for solo horn and electronics written in the fall/winter of 2024 for my friend Nick Ginsburg. This is comfort music: not a comfort to pacify, but to reinvigorate. Here, we commit to something earnest and direct: a kernel cradling the promise of transfiguration. A melody, in duty to its singularity, lays its multiplicity bare.” -Jack Herscowitz, May 2025 Happy release day to “Lullaby” by Jack Herscowitz & Nick Ginsburg [SEA-043] Available both digitally and on transparent C26 cassettes (Ltd to 25). 𝓜𝔂𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓬 𝓔𝓵𝓮𝓿𝓪𝓽𝓸𝓻- 𝓘𝓽 𝓑𝓾𝓻𝓷𝓼 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓪 𝓢𝔀𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼 . We are excited to share that our debut album, It Burns with a Sweetness, is 𝑶𝑼𝑻 𝑵𝑶𝑾 on CD and digital via Harmonic Ooze Records. This album maps out the sound worlds we’ve been traversing these past years: ethereal streams; static electricity; chewed-up slimy gibberish. Much love to the ineffable @cecylruehlen for his support of and trust in this record. Link in our bios, or check the Harmonic Ooze Bandcamp. We also have CDs if you want to grab one from us in LA. Show announcements coming soon. . @mystic_elevator is @abigailwhitman77 (voice) and @jackherscowitz (electronics) Mixing- @jackherscowitz Mastering- @the_land_ethic.wav Engineering- @jazzisafourletterword Art/Layout/Media/CD Production- @cecylruehlen . It Burns with a Sweetness is the culmination of the work we’ve been doing together for the past three and a half years: six studio improvisations of voice and electronics edited and mixed on late nights while borrowing our friend Drew’s speakers (thanks @drewsensueweinstein ). The album maps out the sound worlds we’ve been traversing these past years: ethereal streams, static electricity, and chewed-up slimy gibberish. Our first improvisation together was for three people, in a courtyard, with the vocals run through a beat up guitar amp. Since then, we’ve found our way to a deeper understanding, both of the music and of each other. It Burns with a Sweetness is, at its core, a conversation between two best friends. Much love to Cecyl Ruehlen for his support of and trust in this music. This record is dedicated to Jack and Lacey, the best pups ever.  . @ragethormbones will be premiering a new and decently ambitious piece for trombone duo, Ring Road, on Sunday May 24th, at 7:30pm at the Logan Center for the Arts in Chicago in the 9th floor Penthouse Performance Space (for free). It has been a while since I wrote a piece that has felt like such a big step towards “something.” If you are in Chicago, it will be a great concert with pieces by myself, @rwgarvey , and @n.friedman.music . Thank you @mattie_barbier and Weston Olencki and @uchicagomusic . “Now, when everything is at an end, give me your hand, so that we may begin again from the beginning, that is my favorite sentence by my favorite thinker and the logic of it is pure ring road, pure play that song one more time, but we understand that when we come around again things must be different, must be changed enough that we have a chance to get it right this time, this is the meaning of revolution, right, bye-bye.” -Joshua Clover (1962-2025), in Roadrunner: A Song by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers drawing on final slide by @flintknapper.music

Beautiful and unsettling. The performer has to follow an extremely abstracted text in God’s Dentures by @jackherscowitz - all the while playing an inverted pulled c string. Performing with @antigone.co at UChicago in a week #chicago

𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒅 is an installation concept for motion capture video and four channel audio that I presented at the MADD Center on campus December 3rd to 5th, 2025. Thank to the many folks who stopped by to test this out. You can watch the full 3-minute trailer on my Youtube or bio. I do think a project like this ultimately falls quite flat in its attempted critique, but it was a rewarding learning process nonetheless. Below is the full description. . . Void is an audio-video installation for four-channel audio and live motion capture video. The work conjures ghosts from a digital void, bringing them into the physical installation space until a sudden moment of rupture/break snaps us to new positionality, looking into the void from outside. The work posits haunting and horror as affective weapons against immersion as a form of domination. These ghosts are snapshots of participants’ movement, which occasionally fade in behind the live-video as a signal that something isn’t fully “right” here. A generative spatialized low frequency soundscape accompanies the video and scores both the appearance of the ghosts (with a spectral mid-frequency drone spatialized behind the participants) as well as the moment of rupture (via a hard-cut). Void was displayed in the MADD Center (Media Arts, Data, and Design) at the University of Chicago from December 3rd to 5th, 2025. . #installation #motioncapture #videoart #stickfigure #marxophone
