Link in BIO RAGE THORMBONES. @wolencki & @mattie_barbier have liberated their therapeutic talents for trombone from the USA’s punitive healthcare system and have brought it to bear on our own crumbling service. We regret that on this occasion, their skills cannot be provide free at the point of use, but testaments from previous occupants of their operating table, such as Sarah Davachi, Kevin Drumm & Scott Walker, as well as the evidence of their own clearly robust respiratory systems attest that these laddies’ joyously noisy horns double as two safe pairs of hands to steer our audience through increasingly turbulent times. /track/diapason-normal-for-y-w TOM MUDD. Some years ago, I physically jumped when I saw a friend move his cursor from one computer screen to another while doing his job. Similarly, when an Occupational Therapist was judging whether-or-not I was “fit to work”, I witnessed the assesor spraff his verdict at a machine without use of pen, paper or keyboard and my jaw hit the floor. So you can imagine how the concept of Dr. Mudd algorithmically asking his computer to synthesise cures for free music’s various ailments might in turn induce an aneurysm in my cavebrain, right? RAGE Thormbones - Tilth Soil (Marginal Frequency MFLP B) Following a worth-the-wait delay, we began shipping these beauties on Tuesday. Knocked out by those hand-pours of the colored wax from the hands of @michael.aaron.potter in resolute Minneapolis. The duo plays on 2/25 at Frequency Festival in Chicago, same night same stage as [Ahmed]. Copies will be on hand. Thanks to all who have played the record, purchased it, and got the word out in one channel or another!

‘tilth soil’ is the forthcoming LP from RAGE Thormbones, the DE/US based trombone-forward project helmed by Mattie Barbier and Weston Olencki. This is an exciting one for everyone involved, resulting from a “soft commission” pitched to the duo last year. RT collaborated within the environments they and their gear found themselves, stretching from Bergen, Norway to Culver City, CA, culminating in the audio now committed to wax. All copies of the LP on colored, randomly and darkly splattered vinyl. Original artwork by Mareike Yin-Yee Lee Release date is 9 December 2025. Samples can be heard on SoundCloud and Bandcamp. Rage Thormbones @ragethormbones is a low-frequency brass duo (@mattie_barbier & @wolencki ) whose work exists at the intersections of “fuck around” and “find out”. They produce sculpted masses of high-density sound, carving metallic resonance and subcutaneous tones to make rooms feel really heavy.
