I've seen a mix of different bits and pieces on socials just lately. A lot of it negativity. I've also heard some shocking things from people who have come across negativity in their work and it inspired me to write some of my own thoughts below. And I stand by them:
Your follower count and social media standing does not make you a better or worse photographer than someone else.
Stop comparing yourself to others based on these numbers. They are a meaningless snapshot in time. They are a crude and outdated tool used in a social popularity contest and do not reflect your own or other’s creative skills or abilities.
Don’t put down fellow photographers or discourage them. Instead, support them and encourage them. Everyone is at a different point in their journey, and we never stop learning. So learn how to grow and challenge yourself without comparing yourself competitively to those around you.
But most of all, just ENJOY YOUR ART.

Exciting update on our workshop!
As most of you know, on October 11th we are hosting our Cinematic Photography & Lighting Workshop based at the spectacular Basford Photography & Filming Location, along with 2 amazingly talented, and well established models (Its.chloehill & Piezorplays).
In addition we are proud to announce the exciting news that we will now be collaborating with Essential Photo & Video, Godox and Pixapro for this workshop.
At this full day 8 hour workshop session, you’ll have the chance to learn tips and techniques from 3 experienced mentors (myself ‘Iphotouk’, Tom ‘Switch_8.9’, and Shalimar ‘Shalimarsstuff’), with a wide range of experience in the field of cinematic style photography & lighting, both in the cosplay community & beyond.
We’ll provide both theory & practical mentoring for up to a maximum of 10 photographers, where you will get the chance to not only learn about what makes a cinematic image, and how to create it, but also have ample opportunity to get hands on throughout the day to create your own cinematic masterpieces with both models around the venue, all under the watchful guidance of our experienced mentors.
We’ll also have a selection of lighting on set from Godox/Pixapro provided by our event partner for this event (Essential Photo & Video) to show you how to get the best possible lighting setups to make your shots truly cinematic, as well as having some products for you to get hands on with yourself throughout the day. However, please feel free to bring your own lighting equipment if you prefer.
In addition, we’ll also provide food and drink throughout the day. So the only thing you will really need to bring is yourself and your camera.
And all of this for just £225 per person. To secure your space all we require is a £100 deposit, with the remaining balance to be paid no later than 14 days before the event (all deposits are non refundable).
