No one told me this project would end up being such a stunner, but we knew she was a special one - our Alpine Glow project gracing the pages of Issue 04 of The Design Files Magazine, out now. It shows the power that comes with collaboration by the best of the best - the client, the builder, the designer, the decorator, sustainable building practices and the location. Thanks to all who made this welcoming, warm, relaxing holiday home, one we are so immensely honoured to be a part of.

This house in the dunes is starting to look like it’s always been there! We are targeting passive house certification, and on track with a month or so until completion.
This house will hopefully provide comfort to its inhabitants for decades in the future…

The truth about sustainable architecture photography that I wish I knew when I started - it's not what you think.
When I began photographing sustainable buildings, I thought it was all about showcasing solar panels and green roofs. I was wrong. The most powerful images capture how these spaces feel to live in. They show the morning light streaming through passive design windows, the connection to surrounding landscape, and the subtle material choices that make these buildings perform. These aren't just homes - they're blueprints for our future.

I want to live here.
The kitchen and dining spaces of Glint House – featured in this month’s @homebeautiful magazine – are a quiet celebration of sustainable design done well.
This renovation kept as much of the original Edwardian home as possible, reworking the layout to improve energy efficiency and connection to the outdoors. The walls, floors and ceilings are fully insulated, with cross-ventilating double-glazed windows by @binq_windows and north-facing glazing that welcomes in the winter sun.
Materials were chosen for durability and impact – from the recycled timber floors to the breathable wall wraps and drought-tolerant native landscaping. Even the pool footprint was reduced to make room for more garden. Local, drought-tolerant plants now fill the backyard, supporting biodiversity and softening the space.
What you see here is just a glimpse – the kitchen and dining, sitting at the heart of a home designed for both people and place.

This gorgeous apartment fitout from a few years ago is featured on the design files today! It was so fun working with Sylvie! So proud of what we created here (last image is the before shot for comparison!)
In Australia, on Wurundjeri country, sustainability is lived and breathed by Kylie Trounson and her family and results in a total and stylish transformation for an Edwardian double-fronted house.
