To cover, or not to cover, that is the question. Angled windows look incredible architecturally. They add interest to the room, allow additional light to flood into the space and highlight the tall cathedral ceilings, making this leading feature feel even more impressive. However, they can be tricky to dress with window furnishings… so what do you do? Often window furnishings on an angled window come with a few considerations. The options include: TIMBER PLANTATION SHUTTERS - Can be shaped and often do a fantastic job at highlighting the architectural feature of the room. - Have the ability to pivot open and closed to control the angle of the light, but are not full blockout. - Often hard to reach. This is a great product for a Living space where the shutters may sit on a particular angle for a season, but not ideal in Bedrooms that are being opened and closed constantly. HONEYCOMB BLINDS - Fantastic for insulation and light control. - Can be shaped but in some instances shaped honeycomb blinds are a fixed solution, meaning you cannot open and close the blind. - Often a solution not used throughout the home, so this may be the only window with this product. SHEERS OR DRAPERY - Can be manufactured to suit the angle of the window. - Available in an endless selection of fabrics and densities. - If the curtain is not fixed in place (generally only suited to sheers or drapes with a tie-back) where do they stack? Up high with the curtain creating a mullet-shaped hem, or on the low side for the fabric to drag on the floor. Every window and treatment of the room is different, but in this instance we decided to leave the angled window uncovered. The entertainment space outside provided coverage from the sun, there was no privacy issues or need for block out in the Living Room, and this feature was not intended to then be covered permanently. We added a roller blind to the lower door for privacy and sun control as required. In future, there is the option to run a face fit sheer along the beam, or continue the existing curtain line with suspended curtain track with droppers from the ceiling. What would you do to dress an angled window?

Hello, my name is Maddy and I am obsessed with linen! The way its falls, the softness of the fibre, the relaxed nature of the weave, the colours when dyed, I love it all. Natural fibres create a warm, lived in feel to your soft furnishings that is difficult to recreate in another composition. They are an investment though, so understand the pros and cons of working with all natural products and look after them accordingly. Images showing unlined and lined drapery, and roman blinds in a number of styles. Contact Middle Ground for more information.

Create a soft sanctuary with sheer curtains that add texture and warmth to a room. This warm-white sheer by @warwickfabrics beautifully complements the home of the @fika.albury owner. As we head into the colder months, this is the perfect way to complete a cosy interior. Wouldn’t you agree?

2025 is a year I am incredibly proud of: one of business and personal growth. The best part has been the wonderful people I have worked with and learnt from along the way. With some exciting projects ahead, I cannot wait to see what the new year has in store for Middle Ground Creative. And yes, I am still stupidly obsessed with my DIY lamp ✨ @threefoldstudio capturing Trentwood Homes @bechaycraft capturing McKeone and Wilson Project Group @alterrain.photography capturing Protea Styling #windowfurnishings #softfurnishings #smallbusiness #businesswomen #alburywodongasurrounds
