Thank you Rockefeller Capital Management and the Rockefeller family for continuing to support artists alongside NYFA.
Am forever thankful to Alissa at the Miles McEnery Gallery, joining me tonight for an amazing celebration of art and artists.
Lisa Corinne Davis, Tangible Tale, on view until 29 May 2026
Featuring a new body of work, ‘Tangible Tale’ presents Davis’s richly layered abstractions, where visual languages of mapping, coding, and organic pattern converge. Her paintings explore identity, perception, and the systems through which we interpret and organise the world.
Tangible Tale
April 15 - May 29

9 Bury Street, London
For 25 years, Lisa Corinne Davis (@insta_lcd ‘17) has drawn on her lived experience to explore the complex relationship between race, culture, and systems of societal classification—questioning the human impulse to categorize. Her paintings layer warm, organic marks with warped geometric grids reminiscent of maps and genetic diagrams, creating surfaces that shift and pulse with hypnotic energy.
Inspired in part by falsified Soviet maps, her imagined geographies interrogate information, power, and belief. In an era shaped by surveillance and artificial intelligence, Davis’s work raises urgent questions about truth, trust, and the precarious nature of personal identity.
Opening tonight in London at The Mayor Gallery. Thank you to James, Christine, Amy & Stephen for your support.

Lisa Corinne Davis, Credible Tale — featured in Charged Field at G-Town Arts, opening reception April 4, 4-6PM on view through May 9, 2026. Credible Tale operates through deliberate misdirection. From across the room it looks like landscape — parceled farmland, a reservoir caught in horizontal blue, forest canopy at the edges. Get closer and it shifts. The white fields are bounded in thin orange, too precise for nature, too erratic for any surveyor. The green forms that read as tree cover resolve into triangular modules following their own logic entirely. And then there's that single orange-yellow mark near the center — small, almost offhand — that belongs to no system the rest of the painting acknowledges. It is the painter's signature on a forgery she has openly signed. A Guggenheim Fellow, Davis's work is held in the collections of MoMA, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She is represented by Miles McEnery Gallery, New York. On view April 4 – May 9. G-Town Arts, 5 Main Street, Georgetown, CT. Saturdays 11am–4pm & by appointment. @insta_lcd
On Tuesday 15th April, I’ll be in conversation with artist Lisa Corinne Davis @insta_lcd at The Mayor Gallery @mayorgallery in St James’s, London, and I’d love for you to be there! ✨🥂🎙️📚
The evening marks two things: the recent release of my book Working in Art: How to Build A Career in the Art World, and the opening of Lisa’s exhibition of new paintings, Tangible Tale.
We’ll kick off at 5pm with a 45-minute seated talk drawing on the themes of the book as I speak to Lisa about what it really means to run a practice, take on public commissions, navigate academia, and build the kind of layered, interconnected professional life that her paintings reflect.
After the talk, I’ll be signing books & copies will be available to buy on the night, or bring your pre-ordered copy along!
From 6pm, the gallery opens for Lisa’s private view. Stay for drinks and spend time with her work ❤️

Human NATURED
Curated by Annemarie Waugh
The Lyceum Gallery
“Human NATURED brings together painting, photography, prints, sculpture, and poetry produced over two decades. The artists engage with the natural world, cultural memory, and personal experience through tactile, thoughtful processes. From Howardena Pindell’s meticulous abstractions built from hole-punched dots to Agathe Snow’s sculptures incorporating found materials, and from Terrance Hayes’s poetic portraits to Lisa Corinne Davis’ vibrant geometric paintings, the exhibition present’s diverse approaches united by a commitment to meaningful expression and the human hand. Human NATURED invites viewers to slow down, look closely and reconnect with the nature of artmaking itself
