Little recap from our very first performance together at @dutchmodularfest in @worm_rotterdam Exploring shattered rhythmic structures in image and sound, in juxtaposition with audiovisual archival material. Modern esthetics that are rooted in our sense of home, and anger. A combination of modular synths and realtime modular visuals, a small string instrument and microphones, with @ableton as an information hub linking @touchdesigner and the instruments. We're definitely planning on doing this again. ⚡ Photos by @by_pauluz ❤️ Videos by @eline_vandijkman & @wsvasek ❤️ #modular #touchdesigner #liveperformance

MEET THE MASTERS OF THE CEREMONY. Ines Kooli (b. 2000) is a Tunisian designer, artist, and creative technologist who graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven and is currently pursuing a Master’s in scenography at HKU. She considers herself as an underconstruction bridge, constantly exploring ways to connect people through scenography, interactive and/ or performative installations, and generative visuals. Ines’ work is inspired by the political, cultural, and social dynamics of living between Tunisia and the Netherlands, exploring the benefits and challenges of navigating a bicultural existence. Since her graduation in July 2023, Kooli has exhibited and performed in various renowned institutions, such as Het Noordbrabants Museum, LeGuessWho?, Uncloud, Het Centraal Museum, Het Park Theater, and Spektrum. She also performed with modular synthesizers at Dutch Modular Fest, Voltage Control Amsterdam, and The Overkill Festival. Ines is currently exhibiting The Swing of Damocles in ROZET, Arnhem. I decided to pickup again with posting about projects that I have worked on/exhibited/showcased this year (and a bit of 2023). I will also share some process or backstage stuff whenever I feel like it. This is DeKnobber-216, an instrument developed for my graduation project, in collaboration with @munchies_63 . It was later showcased for 3 weeks (ish) during @uncloud.nl 2023 exhibition physicaldigitalphysicaldigitalphysicaldigital[…] Thank you to all the people involved into the development of this project, and to those who got to enjoy it as well 🤍 1- photo by @guillaumeversteeg 2- video by @eline_vandijkman 3- being played by @gau.laurence 4- being played by @skander.log / @near.stoic 5- testing out concrete knobs with teensy and ableton 6- @skanderjaibi removing tin from an nfc chip (decided to not go forward with the idea) 7- cardboard model 8- tunisian bricks that I brought in my suitcase, used for the final table 9- Juno & Ziggy 10- my former living room transformed into a concrete casting workshop (big up to @victor_cb_ for his patience) 11- glimpse of the inside 🫶

UNCLOUD FESTIVAL WEEKEND 2024 @michel_banabila and @ineskooli came together at a residency at Uncloud to develop an AV show for this year’s festival edition. Michel, a sound artist, composer, and producer has been releasing music since 1983. His music varies from minimal loop-based electronica, fourth world, and neoclassical pieces, to drones, experimental ambient, and punk-as-fuck tape music. Ines, a digital and interactive designer, who finds joy and playfulness in interactive installations, sensors, VJing, modular synths, scenography, and traditional Tunisian artistry. Together, they will perform a live reinterpretation of Banabila’s LPs Echo Transformations and Unspeakable Visions for an immersive AV performance as a result of their Uncloud residency. → Don’t miss their show on tomorrow, 4 October, @denijverheid during Uncloud Festival Weekend. DeKnobber-216 emerges as a collaborative creation by Ines Kooli and Aziz Reguigui, embodying a fusion of instinctive playability and kinetic expression. Drawing inspiration not only from the pulsating electronic beats of Tunisia but also from the intricate polyrhythms inherent in traditional Tunisian music, this instrument represents a harmonious union of modernity and heritage. DeKnobber-216, purposefully crafted for party settings, embodies the essence of engaging users in an exploration of rhythm and melody through their own physical movements. By inviting users to intuitively navigate its surfaces, the instrument becomes a canvas for crafting distinctive symphonies that originate from the very core of their beings. This empowerment allows users to articulate their narratives through sound, thereby amplifying the tapestry of musical expression. Many thanks to @synthux.academy , Tim Walter, @bart.van.nes , @skanderjaibi , @thepuritanist , and all the people who helped making this project possible. The sound used in this video was recorded while I was playing with the controller. To be continued… #deknobber216 #midicontroller #interactivedesign #productdesign #concrete #tiles #experimental #music @__b_saad @designacademyeindhoven

The Swing of Damocles When we experience different cultures, it can be exciting and freeing, but we also have to face the emotional challenge of figuring out where we belong. For Ines Kooli, transitioning from Tunisia to the Netherlands evoked a sense of ‘cultural swinging’. It describes the feeling of shifting between cultures, homes, friends, families, and places. ‘The swing of Damocles’ is an interactive installation that uses a swing to capture this shifting feeling of ‘home’. Start swinging and embark on a journey from Tunisia to the Netherlands, experiencing having to adjust to different social and cultural norms in order to establish a new life. This personal and immersive reflection of Ines’ experience with defining ‘home’ will resonate with those who face similar challenges of feeling between places. Many thanks to @synthux.academy @bart.van.nes @studio_vodka , @4drstudios , the 3D lab, and all the people who were there to make this project possible Text by Shane Bergvik @seriousshane Link in bio to watch full video. The installation will be presented during Dutch Design Week 2023, at Graduation Show 2023. #swing #interactive #installation #digital #design #touchdesigner #arduino #gyroscope @t3kt @touchdesigner @dutchdesignweek @designacademyeindhoven

The Swing of Damocles Digital Focus Module 2022/2023 - @designacademyeindhoven This interactive installation invites visitors to sit and swing. As they make the swing move, visuals and sounds will be generated in reaction to the movements. This nonlinear experience brings the person swinging and passerby on a journey from Tunisia to the Netherlands. Using the pace of the swing to see through the eyes of a person that had to adapt to different social and cultural norms in order to live in a new country. This project wouldn't have existed without: Roey (@synthux.academy ), Ian, Esther (@studio_vodka ), and Léa (@l_eacadieux ), who were here 24/7 for all of us during the semester, making the impossible possible, listening to our crap and drying our tears, Bart (@bart.van.nes ), who took the time to write a code on Arduino that got my laptop to receive gyroscope data via Wifi, and send it to TouchDesigner, Laura (@laura.stagite ) for our the endless discussions, Nizar (@nizzouu ) for fixing my laptop, Zak (@xy.zak.xyz ) for making Blender look easy, 4DR studios (@4drstudios ) for my dances capture, TouchDesigner (@touchdesigner ) community for all the Tutorials, Dream Texture #dreamtexture community for helping out with all the AI issues, My Digital Focus fellas, and all those who have encouraged me since the beginning. Also a big thank you to all the people who dared to sit, swing, and discover 🤍 Videos: Charlène (@chara_kiri_ ), Arnoud, me Photos: Léa, me Programs used: After Effects, Arduino, Blender, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Stable Diffusion, TouchDesigner Music: Ramadan - Muslim Gauze, Sky Singing - Zaliva D, Algo ou Alguém Entre as Árvores - Ninos Du Brasil Dean (@deananli_pr ) playing drums in the background (video 3) #Interactive #installation #swing #AI #4DR #animation #touchdesigner #glsl #arduino #blender #aftereffects #stablediffusion #audioreactive #performance #openevent #process #wolfie #to_be_continued
