I have started a bit of a side project. The big idea is quite a bit crazy but first I'll work on what is manageable: a minicomputer on a tiny space on my (rather thin) wrist, that will be able to survive a full day's work. Are you curious what this thing will look like when it is done, and what the whole project idea is? I'll reveal little bits over the course of this project, so make sure to drop me a follow! Keep an eye on my Youtube channel for more updates and similar projects. 🤓 #pipboyedition #cyberpunkinspired #falloutcommunity #femaleengineers #diyelectronics

Chromatic Echoes 🌳✨🫂 Museum @jijbentm invited me to create a new work for @alluminous_light_art_festival 2025, taking place 17–26 October in Almere. I chose a quiet spot among the trees for an installation titled Chromatic Echoes. The work is about connection: how everything around us consists of small parts that together form something larger, much like trees that communicate through their roots. On site, several trees respond to touch: when you gently hold them, they light up in color. The shifting hues flow between the trees, a visible echo of presence. Chromatic Echoes invites you to pause for a moment and experience that sense of connection yourself. I collaborated once again with Esther de Bruijn @studio_vodka on the interactive design & development. I'Il be at the opening and on Saturday 18 October- would be great to see you there! let me know when you are planning to go, I might come along. More info about the artists, route, and full program: @alluminous_light_art_festival #ChromaticEchoes #Alluminous2025 #LightArt #InteractiveArt #InstallationArt #ArtAndNature #ContemporaryArt #PublicArt #ArtInNature #FroukeTenVelden #Almere #Flevoland #IgersAlmere #AlmereArt #LightFestival #jijbentm

Last weekend @thyrza.co , @hannah.keulen and me organised a Hackathon in a beautiful place in France, where we extended our existing research on Liminal Space. During the weekend we quickly established that VR would be the best platform to convey the kind of spatial experience that (architectural) liminal spaces embody. Through experimentation we figured out how to translate such huge spaces into a small area, and still make them feel large. But there is more to gain! The first brick has been laid, and we are looking forward to a second round 🏚 🏫 Also, I made friends with a mini-horse 🐎 #liminalspaces #liminalspacesaesthetic #architecturalresearch #hackathons #hackathon2025

Another fixture fixed! This Showtec strobe had a few bent pins on the dipswitch module that had gotten loose due to a fall (probably). All good now! Cleaned the glass plate and insides while I was at it. Practically good as new 💡 #strobelights #fixturerepair #lighttechnician #lightingtechnician #femaletech

Past week I've been taking care of these old fixtures, which have been added to my inventory 🛠 💡. They sure had collected some dust and grime over the years, but they are now crispy clean again 🧼 It has been super interesting to do some field research on these puppies. Moving heads sure are built in a cool way! Got 3 (partly working), now it is a matter of finding spare parts to get them fully operational, these yield a beautiful warm, bright light. But perhaps I can find other uses for them... Still need to fix: - mechanical shutter - driver board - the left fuse blows on power up - 2x new lamps - creaking pan mechanism Anyone got leads for spare Martin Mac250 Krypton lamps and parts in the Netherlands? Lmk in the comments or DM me! Lamps I can order new as well ofc, but boy are they pricey 👽 Btw, did this song also violently yank you straight back to 2010? ✨ #martinlights #oldschoollighting #lighttechnician #diyrepairs #lichttechniek

A little tour of my first walks into the LED panel world - I ended up using fastLED library which worked like a charm, then using Artnet I am sending direct info to my ESP32. Which obviously can't keep up with the speed of things, but for now, it is a really terrific experiment. If all goes well, what should my next project be with LED? Any tips? ✨ Plans for current project: - daisy chain LED panels, adding extra power lines - some sort of remote control over the chip's settings, or a separate ethernet module - soldering, finetuning electronics - implementing different microcontroller, probably Teensy - building housing for all #arduino #microcontrollers #esp32wroom #touchdesigner #womenintechnology

Finally jumped into ESP32, LCD, TFT, and LED! Friends and colleagues know it was a long time coming, and after the Chaos Communication Congress I finally got enough fuel to get to it - now I just got to program and connect everything correctly. De 🪲 ing, you know? I started with an old LCD I bought years ago, never used, no idea if it even works. Well, it works, but I will probably buy a chip for it so I don't need 16 (!) connection points. Also got myself some tiny LED panels, they are cute and small - planning to make some sort of WiFi controlleable device with them. #esp32 #thenerd #nerdywomen #getyourgeekon #ledpanelscreen #arduinoproject #hackingtools
