Congrats to San Francisco based Otherwise Brewing for their recent medal sweep in the Gluten-Free Beer category @brewerscupofca ! Their Cali Crisp Rice Lager took home gold and features 100% Lórien hops in three additions: bittering, aroma, and flameout. The grain bill includes pale rice malt and a small percentage of pale millet malt to round out the profile. “Cali Crisp is one of our flagships and was the first beer we ever released, though it has evolved significantly since that time. We used to use Hallertau Tradition in this beer, but we wanted all of our beers to be brewed with 100% American-grown hops and malt. “Lórien has actually been a really nice upgrade over Hallertau. It has that balanced noble/floral aroma that we like but also adds a touch of citrusy complexity that is nice without being out of style.” “We did want this to drink like an American lager, though it is perhaps a bit more fragrant than most. You get a nice floral/honeysuckle scent from the combination of the malt and hops. The beer goes down smooth and crisp without too much lingering aftertaste. Cali Crisp pairs well with food and is also a great choice for an afternoon refresher on a hot day,” states Otherwise CEO & Co-founder, Aaron Gervais. In addition to being homegrown, the hops and malt used in Cali Crisp are sustainably grown for a healthier planet. Lórien hops are bred to withstand the challenges of our changing climate and are @salmonsafe certified and the malt is 100% regeneratively grown.

Great beer starts with clean water. Nobody knows that better than the world-class breweries that rely on clean water in the Pacific Northwest. So, for the fourth year, the Oregon Brewshed® Alliance is hosting the Wild & Scenic Earth Day Collaboration Series to expand public education and awareness about the importance of clean water to our communities, our forested ecosystems, and our beer! A portion of the proceeds from each of these brews goes to Oregon Wild to support their work protecting Oregon's wild waters. Currently, they're working to pass the River Democracy Act, a historic opportunity to protect many of Oregon’s most treasured rivers. This proposed legislation would safeguard over 3,200 miles of waterways, from the big landscapes of Northeastern Oregon to the rugged Coast Range. Compelling new hops don’t come along every day. IH19082 is a new experimental that we’re pretty excited about. Worthy first brewed with this hop last summer, and the results from a single hop hazy were fantastic: lychee, guava, tangerine, rhubarb… just a nice set of tropical fruit flavors. So we decided to re-brew and test this experimental in an XPA utilizing mostly Pilsner two-row to really allow this hop to shine on its own. Radiant Dream XPA, single hopped with a new Indie experimental, coming soon to the Worthy taproom and the Indie Hops booth #926 at CBC in Philly!
